heathershaped: (Merlin: Angel C. glance down)
So Gwen's blurb on SyFy's Merlin website has been changed, to:

Gwen's, or Gwynevere's, current situation is a million miles away from her infamous future. She's maidservant to Morgana, a kind mistress, but nonetheless her duties of cleaning, washing, fetching and carrying are far from glamorous. Not that Gwen minds. A job in Uther's court is the best thing she could have ever wished for, taking her away from the humdrum reality of her poor but loving family.

When Merlin arrives in town, Gwen is instantly taken with him - he's kind, thoughtful and has a good heart. The problem is, Merlin's completely oblivious to her affections. As far as he's concerned, she's a great friend. Gwen will have to bide her time and wait for him to notice her...but if he ever does, he might not be the only young buck vying for her affections. Gwen might be poor and simple now but, unbeknownst to all concerned, she is destined to be the Queen of Camelot.

For those watching at home, they snipped out the offensive second paragraph and "the worlds most notorious adulteress" at the very end.

I still think it's lazy weaksauce and I'm a bit baffled that they couldn't rewrite the thing (the entire site needs to be rewritten, come to that; the other characters' bios and descriptions are hilariously wrong) but at least their message is no longer "Gwen may be poor, ugly and simple now, but one day she'll finally get some dude to notice her, and then she'll be the worlds most famous adultress! DREAM BIG, KIDS." Well. That is still kind of the message, but without the ugly part.

And that's okay; no one really gives a crap how her name is actually spelled, amirite?

ANYWAY, at the end of the day I guess I'm surprised they listened to us at all! Everyone who fired off emails is awesome. <3

*waves* I suck at updating this thing on a regular basis. -headdesk- Couple things.

** I have been RPing my ass off the last little while. :P Seriously, [livejournal.com profile] road_ahead is so much fun! When I'm not writing in it, I'm reading the awesome stuff everyone else is posting. :D I've never played anywhere where I was reading every post. Oh, and I recently lost my mind and picked up Seamus Finnigan as well, who opened up a bit ago. *huggles Jen* So. :P

** I need to watch less TV. Not that I will, because of my guilty pleasures -- American Idol, Top Chef, Make me a Supermodel, not to mention all the series that are back or coming back to finish out the season after the strike. I've also been catching up on The Tudors, which I've never been into before now but which is starting its second season on the 30th. It's actually pretty good, and J-Rhys Meyers haughty looks don't bother me as much in this role. He's actually kinda hot. :P Oh, and Skins. *nods* Yeah, I'm not likely to watch any less TV. >_>

** Speaking of strike, meh to all this recent LJ drama. I don't feel particularly strongly about the issue either way (not that I have any specific plans to post with this journal tomorrow anyway, just sayin'). I dunno, I'm just tired of drama; tired of reading about it.

** How's everyone on my f-list doing? *hugs* And hi to new friends. :D

Title: Laws of Motion
Rating: R
Genre: Romance
Summary: All Harry needed was a wake-up call. When he gets it, though, Hermione just might not know what hit her. EXCERPT: Chapter 5- "Harry nearly snarled. It had been a long day already, and the last thing he’d ever expected was to find Draco-bleeding-Malfoy standing out here on the street. To think; not ten minutes ago, he’d been inside in the warmth, on the couch, about to ‘make up’ with Hermione. And now Malfoy was out here being cheeky? Forget it. "R for sex and mild language.

I've finally updated. Sorry it took so long, guys. I just...had trouble with it. (Funny that I wasn't having trouble with it while I should have been studying for exams, but that isn't the point.)

Anyway, great news! This would be my first beta-ed chapter. I'm thrilled, especially because I felt like an utter hack and needed all the help I could get. So thanks, very much, to [personal profile] castledown, who checked up on my phrasing, dialogue, stylistic details- and he even brit-picked it. He's great, and I want to also wish him luck on his interview today. ^_^

Guys, I feel like my inexperience and overall green-ness comes through loud and clear with this chapter, especially before Jim got his hands on it, so I really hope you liked what I did with it. (Thank you again, Jim.)

*sings praises of betas everywhere*

Thanks for reading so far.

Oh yeah. Here it is.   Chapter 5: Cohesive Forces.
