Rantiness and politics ahead, in which I am sick of watching the news, so read at your own risk.

+ PSA: For anyone who cares, here's a list of the members of the 111th Congress and their contact information. Best thing to do push for the health care public option is to call/email your senators and, well, push for the public option. Right now I don't know whether Obama's backing off of it, pushing forward with it, or what, but we need to make it clear to them what we want. Clearer than we did when we voted to elect a Democratic president, 60 Democratic senators, and a damn near two-to-one Democratic majority in the House. So, yeah. Contact information at the link.

+ Also: Ten Awesome Things That Would Happen If Health Care Reform Passes and Fact Check on Health Care.

+ Also, also, the death panel thing is hilarious. No, really. HILARIOUS. Not that it's TRUE or anything, but don't insurance companies get rich by determining who is and isn't expendable?

+ Also also also, people who want to 'take their country back': From whom? Where has it gone? What exactly does that mean?

+ To change the subject of this post, but not the overall tone, have I mentioned how much I'm not watching Stargate: Universe? Because I'm not. The racism and sexism in SGA was bad enough, but now with this new endeavour they want to add ableism and homophobia to their repertoire? Not with me watching, they won't. (spoilers at both links.)

And Joe Mallozzi, of course, responds to the fail with more fail. Just a draft, was it? Convenient, but somehow I'm not reassured by the fact that you thought it was okay to pass that garbage amongst each other when you thought no one was looking and actually consider running with it. Once again you make utter thoughtlessness into an art form. (bonus fail at the link.)

+ Blah. I wanted to say something else but I forgot. :P

(also, [livejournal.com profile] kendas, I'll be going over your thingy after work, thanks for being patient!)

Oeeerr, so I've made some new friends this week. XD Hi and welcome to my journal and everything! ♥ I just want to say that I do not normally rant this much. Fannish babble will return after these scheduled messages.

THAT BEING SAID: The Marriott Hotel in Stamford CT is being sued by a woman who was raped at gunpoint in its parking garage, in front of her children.

Their response? She was careless, negligent and "failed to exercise due care for her own safety and the safety of her children and proper use of her senses and facilities," according to court documents.

yep, that's right, folks:

"proper use of her senses and facilities."
"proper use of her senses and facilities."
"proper use of her senses and facilities."

Because everyone knows that women with good sense don't get themselves raped. DIE IN A FIRE, Stamford Marriott. And also, FUCK YOU.

** tom/smallville-related rant )

** I can't write anything, ya'll. Thing is, I really want to. I have ideas for a couple different pairings, especially h/hr, that just won't come out. Do you guys do anything do kickstart your muse? Maybe I should just turn off the TV. *g*

** This isn't a muttering per se, but Obama picking Biden made me squee. Possibly because I was so afraid he'd pick Bayh or something that I'm really just relieved, but still, for the moment I am mostly squeeful. Liked seeing them out in Springfield today. Though I was so mad that cable news managed to scoop my text message alert (which came at three a.m., snerk). *giggle*

** I am so behind on Mad Men. I haven't seen any of season 2, yet. I need to clean out my DVR.

** Halfway through Rebel Angels and still really liking the series. We'll see how it ends, though, I'm worried.

** Even though I am still not remotely inclined to see the Twilight film, Robert Pattinson made me laugh in Empire Magazine:

"When you read the book," says Pattinson, looking appropriately pallid and interesting even without makeup, "it's like, 'Edward Cullen was so beautiful I creamed myself.' I mean, every line is like that. He's the most ridiculous person who's so amazing at everything. I think a lot of actors tried to play that aspect. I just couldn't do that. And the more I read the script, the more I hated this guy, so that's how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself. Plus, he's a 108-year-old virgin so he's obviously got some issues there."

** That's all I've got for today. :P
