Random mutterings on a Saturday

** Dear CW,

Why are you not giving fans their Tom, Jensen, and Jared fix any new promotions for the new seasons of Smallville and Supernatural? I read that you intend to release new cast photos, and now we're less than a month away from the premieres and there's nothing. No TV spots, no new photos, just a few grainy teaser clips that someone was able to sneakily record from when you showed them at Comic Con.

I get that Smallville's entering its eighth season, and I get that it might the last one, and yeah, I get that it's had some writing issues in seasons six and seven. I do understand all of that. But it's still the CW's highest-rated scripted show (yes, higher than Gossip Girl even if you wouldn't know it), and it leads into the second highest rated scripted show, Supernatural, and on the toughest night in television, Thursdays. Why wouldn't you have a care and promote them? Especially after the great reception they both got at comic con. You'll be lucky to stay afloat once Smallville ends.

You think that people are more interested in Rich Kids With 'Problems'. That's cool; I like Gossip Girl, too. But you can't neglect the network's biggest breadwinners in favor of promoting Rich Kids With 'Problems' 2: The West Coast, and Rich Kids With 'Problems' 3: Miami Edition. That's where I draw the line. Stop being stupid before your entire network tanks.

No love,

Me

Seriously, though -- I really just need more pics of Tom. I'm getting jittery over here. KTHNX.

** I can't write anything, ya'll. Thing is, I really want to. I have ideas for a couple different pairings, especially h/hr, that just won't come out. Do you guys do anything do kickstart your muse? Maybe I should just turn off the TV. *g*

** This isn't a muttering per se, but Obama picking Biden made me squee. Possibly because I was so afraid he'd pick Bayh or something that I'm really just relieved, but still, for the moment I am mostly squeeful. Liked seeing them out in Springfield today. Though I was so mad that cable news managed to scoop my text message alert (which came at three a.m., snerk). *giggle*

** I am so behind on Mad Men. I haven't seen any of season 2, yet. I need to clean out my DVR.

** Halfway through Rebel Angels and still really liking the series. We'll see how it ends, though, I'm worried.

** Even though I am still not remotely inclined to see the Twilight film, Robert Pattinson made me laugh in Empire Magazine:

"When you read the book," says Pattinson, looking appropriately pallid and interesting even without makeup, "it's like, 'Edward Cullen was so beautiful I creamed myself.' I mean, every line is like that. He's the most ridiculous person who's so amazing at everything. I think a lot of actors tried to play that aspect. I just couldn't do that. And the more I read the script, the more I hated this guy, so that's how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself. Plus, he's a 108-year-old virgin so he's obviously got some issues there."

** That's all I've got for today. :P
