Pardon me if the answers to these questions are easy to find, lol, BUT:

+ Does anyone know when assignments would go out approximately? Because whatever I write will need writing before the 18th due to me not being home between then and Christmas, and if signups were going out Dec 1 or something, that might make things slightly complicated.

+ Relatedly, is it really possible to browse peoples' letters and just write whatever if you haven't done a regular signup - am I understanding that right?

eta: Thanks, Cel and Emei! ♥

Question: Hypothetically, if I'd signed up for reel_merlin ...

Y Tu Mama Tambien. Arthur/Merlin?

...or genderswapped with Gwen in Julio's role and Morgana in Tenoch's?

Just hypothetically.

Better question: Why am I even pretending to be undecided on which one I'm going to attempt?

Even better question: How hard will I kick myself if I don't finish this one in time? The idea is making my heart beat fast. It is begging me to write it. I LOVE THAT MOVIE.

So, I get one fic challenge off my plate (Ladies of Camelot challenge pwned! Woot!) and what do I do?

Well, sign up for another, of course. *headdesk*

I requested a prompt at [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon. I didn't want to let that one pass me by this year. What with the characters I write in RP and everything, I usually write boys and I guess I assumed for a while that boys were the most comfortable for me to write (apart from Hermione, who I'm very comfortable with). But as I try more characters/pairings in HP as well as different fandoms, I find myself wanting to write the girls more. Which, yay, because I do love writing boys, but I love stories about women best of all.

They give four months to write a minimum of 1000 words, so I'm not overly worried about being able to get it done. But it's multifandom -- so I have to decide whether to write an HP fic or a Merlin fic for it. On the one hand, lots of girls to choose from for HP, but on the other, Gwen and/or Morgana gen, or Nimueh gen, needs to happen more. We'll see what talks, I guess. Or maybe I'll do a poll.

Anyway, go sign up! You pick a number from the list randomly, and the mod assigns you a quote as your prompt, from some notable woman in history. My prompt:

By the time we are women, fear is as familiar to us as air; it is our element. We live in it, we inhale it, we exhale it, and most of the time we do not even notice it. Instead of "I am afraid," we say, "I don't want to," or "I don't know how," or "I can't." -- Andrea Dworkin (1946-2005), American radical feminist and author.

+ Happy Pi Day, bbs! I am CRAVING pie. This is how big a nerd I am (also, I just like pie). I think I'm going to go get some even though I've been gone all day and forgot to pick some up when I was out.

+ My [livejournal.com profile] hp_spring_fling fic is pwned, if a bit overdue. Next is my Ladies of Camelot AU fic, Morgana's POV, set post-Moment of Truth. (I've got to get over my nerves when it comes to writing Merlin fic in general, btw. Just new fandom wibbles, I guess. *looks at started fics on hard drive* I do fine with HP; it really shouldn't be all that scary. *eyerolls at self*)

+ I'm redoing my layout while I have time. No moar yellow. And, I think, no moar Tom and Joe. 'Bye for now, pretties.

+ Look upon my new icon and squee, people. I really need to catch up on Supernatural. And Skins. I got a chance to catch Smallville on Thursday though, and god ... I really wish I knew how to quit that show. *headdesk* It's Tom. He won't let me look away. -_-'

-- Being Human's been picked up for a second series. And we get 8 episodes instead of just six. *dances* Even though it's doing really well in the ratings, I honestly didn't know if it'd be back. I think I'll make another set of icons to celebrate. XD

*is obviously a complete dork*

-- moar TV rambling: Top Chef ended last night so there's a new winner. I don't want to talk about it. -_-' However, Damages was fabulous. I wish more people were into that show. I'm completely behind on Nip/Tuck (probably because it fairly sucks and has since about season 3, and I can't be arsed to remember to watch anymore). But I do need to catch up on Big Love, which is still awesome. And The Tudors is back really soon, but I honestly don't know how good it'll be without Anne. Surely it'll still be pretty, though, and as always that's reason enough to watch.

-- I'm nervous and excited about [livejournal.com profile] thelittlebang and [livejournal.com profile] boxofmagic, and maybe one other that I may or may not be tossing around ideas for with a couple people, we'll see. I'm going to be writing my ass off this spring/summer. Which, overall, is good. *nod*

So in the spirit of that -- Buttons:

Hope everyone's having a good day. ♥
heathershaped: (real men snap)
YOU GUYS.

I may have just signed up for [livejournal.com profile] thelittlebang.

...and [livejournal.com profile] boxofmagic.

Hold me.

But no, srsly, you should join me. XD The Little Bang is for femmeslash in whatever fandom you want (I'm doing HP, obviously; been tossing around a Hermione/Pansy idea).

And [livejournal.com profile] boxofmagic is the Merlin Big Bang, and I am nuts, but yeah. Mine will be either Gwen/Morgana or a gen-ish OT4 idea. I think.

Sign up for one or both so you can wibble with me. XD Eeee!

They're not exchanges, which removes some of the pressure. They've got to be loooong, though. Meep! Please to be indulging me as I flail, kind of a lot, over the next few months.

So, I have other fics to write, of course, and loads of RP to do, but I had an urge to claim this the other day for [livejournal.com profile] 7spells, so, uh, I did. Also managed to tempt [livejournal.com profile] inell into claiming one, too.

Anyway, here's my prompt table:

[livejournal.com profile] 7spells HP Fanfiction Challenge
Author: [livejournal.com profile] heather11483
Character/Pairing: Hermione/Sirius
1. Electric shock
2. Disheveled
3. Candle in the window
4. New every morning
5. Draw the line in the sand
6. So shaken as we are
7. Anachronism
Progress: 0/7

Wish me luck! Also have [livejournal.com profile] hghpficexchange and [livejournal.com profile] hp_summersmut left to write, so yeah.

Hope everyone on the f-list is doing well and had a good week. *hugs*
heathershaped: (never fear)
(And by that, of course, I mean, Here's a halloween ficlet for your consumption.)

Happy Halloween, ya'll!

(Yeah, don't mind the subject line. I just had to put up a little Silence of the Lambs blurt on account of the holiday. ^_^)

I posted this up at the PK forums under [personal profile] castledown's Halloween Fluffathon. I volunteered to do one set in the Common Room.

Yeah, so this…isn’t exactly fluffy, save for the end, even though the title may indicate otherwise. Guess it’s the day, or maybe I’m in a mood. But the humor/fluff pieces I started just were terrible (because I’m just not good at them, lol), so I started over this morning. Hope you like it. I can assure you it's at least better than what I nearly subjected you to.

Title- Better than Chocolate
Rating- PG13
Length- 1830 words (just a little shortie)
Summary- On Halloween of their seventh year, Harry and Hermione relive the night their lives began their convergent paths.
