+ In before mic-job ends up in Urban Dictionary: Holy CRAP, KARL URBAN; WHAT ARE YOU PUTTING IN YOUR MOUTH. Do you know where that's been?

BRB, perving.

+ New Katie and Angel pics from the season 2 Merlin set. There should be a law against that much pretty. Keep smiling, my lovelies.

+ In the 'It's about goddamn time' department, Minnesota supreme court rules Al Franken as the winner of the MN Senate race. Unanimously. Filibuster-proof, bbs. PARTYTIME.

heathershaped: (Buffy stakes Edward FTW)
So, after signing up for Twilight in addition to Y Tu Mama at [livejournal.com profile] reel_merlin, I realised a flaw in my plan.

I would have to actually watch the Twilight movie all the way through.

I read the book ages ago and found it unintentionally HILARIOUS, at best, and a whole lot of other things at worst. So obviously I dragged my feet watching the movie because none of the stars make me drool enough to sit through anything they do. When I finally did see it, I couldn't make it past the scene with Edward nearly throwing up as Bella walks into the room. Just LOL.

Anyway. Yesterday I went ahead and watched it after re-watching my other reel_merlin film.

It's ... actually not as bad as the book, for a couple reasons. There's much less of Bella's banal internal dialogue, so in turn that makes her seem much less vapid and less of a jerk to, oh, everyone except Edward. She also stands up for herself a little bit more in the beginning which is not saying much because she's completely useless in the books. There was no fainting that I remember, and there was less tripping and being ~*~endearingly klutzy~*~ every two minutes. I think she only tripped twice in the film. Heh.

So there was that.

Edward was gross as always (sorry fans, he's just not for me). His ~*~sparkles~*~ looked like blond fur and he was obsessive and mood-swingy. (By the by, Morgana's going to have FANGS, damn it.)

I did like Alice. She was adorable even though she had like two lines. And I liked Charlie. Not surprising because they were the only two people I didn't hate in the book. Would definitely hit Charlie before I'd hit Edward. The movie's also really pretty, scenery-wise, even with the blue filter they used for the whole thing.

The acting was all right in the beginning, but once they finally introduced the plot and ~*~tension~*~ it started to get pretty atrocious.

I am outlining both fics - I don't think this one's going to take place around a high school (seriously, WHY does Edward go to high school? I refuse to even try to make that make sense), nor will there be any literal sparkling. I just... I've got to draw the line somewhere. So we'll see how it goes.
