Thursday mutterings
I suppose I haven't updated in a bit, so.
*** I still have to send out Christmas cards. *fails* But I do plan on getting some stamps today, so I'll have it done soon.
*** Minor geekery: The casting for Avatar: The Last Airbender has me wondering if M Night Shymalan is just fucking with us at this point. Maybe he's trying to see just how much he can fail before he just stops getting work altogether. Seriously: no Asians in the core cast? Not one? Really? FAIL. Especially considering that he chose unknowns. Just, no. This is more failtasic than the rumor that Keanu will play Spike in Cowboy Bebop. /minor geekery
(also, how many times can I say 'fail' in one post?)

*** Hell froze over and I actually answered a drabble prompt last night! Woot! More to come, I think. I've been writing more in general lately, and that feels good. (Not that it takes much to write more than I was, but still. Baby steps.)

the rumor that Keanu will play Spike in Cowboy Bebop
D: That's pretty failtastic in and of itself. I'd be super-pissed if it actually happened, too...I love Bebop to death, but I don't think I could see that. I never got into Avatar, but I'm with you on that one in principle.

As for Avatar, it's just -- almost everything about it is Asian. The characters, the culture, the wardrobes, the fighting styles, they all borrow from different parts of Asia. There are literally no white people in it, and yet it's going to have an all-white cast. It's just going to look ridiculous. *shakes head*

I don't quite get the urge to make everyone White like that...People do that when they discuss what would be cool for casting anime-turned live action, too, and that's also undoubtably Asian. Personally, I think it could be cool have a mixed cast for certain things, like if it is set in another universe where race and culture could be different, or far into the future where there could be a lot more mixing of races...but in general, I feel like if there's an obvious Asian influence, there should at least be *some* Asian cast members, otherwise, yeah, it just looks kind of ridiculous.
