many stories matter

Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie giving a talk about 'The Danger of a Single Story'
On reading, writing, and how the stories we're exposed to can shape our perspectives. It's eighteen minutes long, but more than worth a listen.
The problem with the single story is this: it robs people of dignity. It makes our recognition of our equal humanity difficult. It emphasizes how we are different, rather than how we are similar.
