+ The Nifty-ness of DW part 2232 -- look how it's growing!

+ So, I've been poking around, making friends here and there; adding communities and looking for tips. Also, I want to bring over some of the feeds I'm watching over at LJ. I'm having a lot of fun. *g* It's fascinating seeing this site coming together and I love how transparent and interactive the process is.

+ Speaking of friends, hay guys! Some of you I know from LJ, and a bunch of you I just met. I'm probably going to do some sort of proper intro post at some point before the site goes public. Good to meet you guys. ♥ I've not yet figured out how I want to do the subscription vs access thing; it's not a huge deal to me because I don't lock that many of my posts, normally, but it's still a neat feature to have.

Meanwhile I've been hoping to get my hands on some more invite codes so I can drag more folks over from LJ to share in my DW-squee.

+ I haven't been cross-posting between journals, even though I'm still posting at LJ. I plan to start crossposting everything once the site's in open beta, after I have all my icons sorted and the journal's paid for, and once I'm able to prettify my layout. Which reminds me, I should try installing a mood theme.

Have you yet observed the niftiness of the user tag?

<user name'"username" site="site.com"> gets you, without having to fake it up with the little Tweak or LJ dude or whatever and boldface and link and blah blah blah:

<user name="florahart"> makes [personal profile] florahart (this is @dreamwidth)
<user name="florahart" site="livejournal.com"> makes [livejournal.com profile] florahart
<user name="florahart" site="insanejournal.com"> makes [insanejournal.com profile] florahart
<user name="florahart" site="inksome.com"> makes [inksome.com profile] florahart

When it comes to prettifying your journal there's this useful tutorial over at [Bad username or site: the fulcrum @ livejournal.com] in case you hadn't seen it already. YAY for layout variety!

And I love being able to see the site progressing and all the new comms springing up and everything. It's exciting!

Me too! It's all new and awesome. Some stuff in the Mixit layouts don't quite line up, but it's workable until more layouts become available/more people come over to DW to make pretty layouts etc

Hahaha. I just stumbled on that and said something to Heather, too. *laughs at thinking alike ;)*

Hee! I really love being around when everyone's here discovering all these new things at the same time. It makes me want to sort of roll madly around in the shiny new fannish glee.

If you want to add a pretty layout to Dreamwidth, check out the fulcrum's tutorial on how to bring over a Mixit layout from lj. :) Not the kind of layouts you have on lj, but definitely better than the two Dreamwidth has as defaults ;)
