Huh

I'm not intentionally spamming or anything but...

The whole Dreamwidth thing; what gives? I hadn't even heard about it until just this week, but apparently this is that new fandom-friendly LJ-esque service about which there has been buzz for over a year now. Are any of you planning to get one? I don't mind grabbing an account if people I know are going over there (because I can never resist trying new shiny things), even if I have no earthly intention of leaving LJ.

The fact that there is already an an inaugural comment!porn meme is a good sign.

This stuff just makes me worry more about fandom dissipating, though. Sigh.

Yeah...read through all the comments and STILL have no idea what you guys are talking about, LOL. Of course, I didn't know about the extent of LJ fandom until a year ago, so I'm definitely not going anywhere.... ;)

LOL! It's beyond confuzzling. I'm not leaving, either. Before you got into LJ, I reckon, there used to be some drama in which the LJ higher-ups were basically not being at all clear about their terms of service, and punishing users for it by deleting their accounts without warning when they violated these murkily-explained terms, and it was one of the biggest LJ wanks I've ever seen. Since then, fandom at large has been trying to figure out where they could go that isn't LJ, and after quite a few attempts to try other journaling services, one of them (or one of us I guess, a high-profile fandomer) who used to work for LJ upped and started her own service, and that's what Dreamwidth is.

LJ will still be plenty active, though, I hope.
