Hipster!Who, 5x03 - Victory of the Daleks

but no, I do have actual words.
My least favorite episode so far, which is not to say that it was not still COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY CHARMING. Such is the power of the hipster Who.
I continue to fangirl Matt Smith's SEAMLESS, PERFECT portrayal of the Doctor. You look at him and his carriage and his mannerisms and you can feel the weight of all those memories the Doctor's got, and just ... he's such an old soul. All that fanfic Matt wrote paid off in spades.
This is what I have to say about the actual plot:
CANDY-COATED DALEKS
Right. Now, AMY. AMYYYYYYYYYYYYY. She's just. JUST. Karen plays it so well, with how dazzled Amy is by everything, but how she's still clearheaded and competent and ready to just dive in. Also, my girl's a grifter for reals. She picks locks AND pockets. And I am in love.
I'm intrigued by the Unsubtle Subplot Of Unsubtle Universal Cracks that pop up at the end of every episode, and how Amy plays into it, and how the Doctor is TOTALLY not bringing her along just because he was lonely. I always wondered if that screen he was walking past in the first episode, the one that pinged when he told her that was some sort of lie detector. I mean, I don't even know if he KNOWS her significance, but he knows somethin'.
Also, FOREHEAD KISS AWWWWW.
Next week: River!

One day a DW epsiode will criticise WW2 England rather than being jingoistic and Ra Ra! but this is not that episode.

And you're not the only one who thought it'd be Union Jack Daleks when the White and Blue Rangers came out first!
