Dollhouse "Omega"

Dude.

Just.

DUDE.

+ I was sorry that I'd been spoiled for last week's twist, even though most people I know had already known about Alpha/Alan as well. But it was well-done enough that I wish it'd been a surprise to me. This week's twist? I definitely did not know, beyond reading random speculation. Nice one, Joss; even though Dominic calling her Whiskey last week had suggested that she was a doll, her circumstances were still surprising and heartbreaking. And Amy Acker finally gets to shine - girl is really talented but I was getting annoyed with her character being so meek and weak. Now at least she shows some spine, some anger and some characterization. Broke my heart, though. :( Especially at the end, with her and Victor and the lollies, because that's the old guy's imprint at least partially even though they had to have wiped a lot of his memories/awareness of things. Her scenes were the best in the episode, I thought.

That said, her being a doll was a bit disappointing in that every woman except Adelle now is an active. At least, we can be reasonably sure Adelle isn't because of the drug from Echoes affecting her like it did everyone else. But, yes. Claire/Whiskey is layered and complex and has such a grievous story to tell... and she's not real. :( Gah.

Also, did anyone else read Claire/Topher into that confrontation scene? That was interesting; I've never really seen that ship before. Which brings me to

+ Topher. That was the first time I've really liked him; I've always found him to be deeply creepy. It was nice to FINALLY see some evidence that this is bothering him; it seems like Claire may be a bit of a soft spot.

+ I now find Topher to be a more sympathetic character than Paul, which is surprising. I never really liked Paul either - while it's horrible that he was used, and in many ways raped, as much as the actives, his singlemindedness when it comes to Caroline is creepy and still doesn't make sense. And last week when he closed November's pod and left her there I was so mad. He had no idea if Echo would be just as dangerous or programmed with the same kill trigger, after all. That said, the fact that he freed November was good. I thought that redeemed him some.

side note: even if the show is picked up again I guess that's the last we'll see of November, which is sad. I really grew to like her, and randomly, I love that she was normal-sized. And so freaking gorgeous.

+ I still want to see more about Boyd and why he's doing this.

+ VICTOR :((((((((((((((((

+ Alpha was creepy and crazy and Alan did a fantastic job with all the personalities. Interesting how he thought he was evolved but never really had a grip on himself, at least not in this ep.

+ If there is a second series, can it be more about Priya/Sierra please? Because she didn't get enough screentime last night (what happened with the bounty hunters? I wanted to see!), and besides Caroline is annoying. Seriously, truly annoying. Even in Echoes, she was just irritating; the activism angle is not interesting and I still don't get why the trouble she got into was so bad that she thought signing over her next five years would be better. And the self-righteousness grates. If she was so hardcore about her convictions she would've gone to jail rather than sign away five years of her life.

I mean. "I have 38 brains, but not one of them thinks you can sign a contract to be slave, especially now that we have a black President." *EYEROLL* Really? I know she's supposed to be all ~liberal~ and that's supposed to be part of her ~charm~ but her 38 brains have never encountered this concept before? and all 38 brains are out-of-touch enough to think that this predicament can't exist 'especially' now that the President is black? Please. And I say this as someone who couldn't be any MORE liberal. I am now convinced that Joss doesn't intend for us to like her and want what's best for her, in the interest of keeping the Dollhouse running (and on the air). Which is a bad thing to say, because I DO want what's best for her and the Dollhouse is horrifying, but idk, I am not impressed with Caroline.

+ Eliza did some of her best acting in this one, and I haven't been impressed with her on this show, generally. She isn't as strong as Enver and Dichen when it comes to carrying off multiple characters in one role. But she did a great job this week. And I liked multiple personalities!Echo better than Caroline herself.

+ Also, Fox? RENEW THIS SHIT. I'M NOT PLAYING. RENEW IT.
