Shiny!

It really is quite shiny. I can upload multiple icons at once and expand comment threads -- with a free account. There are NO ADS -- with a free account. I can import my entire LJ into DW with comments and tags and such, and crosspost to both journals at the same time without having to use Semagic or any other of those programs that I never could figure out. Among other things (here's a good post with some info). It's not really the LJ-clone I thought it was.

Anyway. I'm not leaving LJ because, well, all of you are here ♥ (and also, I don't want to). *g* But I'll probably crosspost or something. Mostly, I can't resist shiny toys and I want to be wherever fandom is; if any of you are moving, I don't want to lose you.

If any of you are there already, feel free to add me! I don't know who all's there; it's in closed beta still. Open beta starts on the 30th. Here is some info about the beta process, OpenID and the best way to get one now and once open beta starts. If I can get invite codes I will be passing them out to as many of you as I can, starting with people I've chatted to about it here or on Twitter or on YM or wherever we talked about it and then going from there, I reckon. No idea when I'll get them or how many I'll have but I expect I'll be able to get some at some point. I'll probably buy my account when I can, so that should help. Someone was awesome enough to get me a code so I want to pay it forward. Plus I want, um, actual friends over there, so. *g*

Ahh! I've been trying so hard to resist the pull of other journal sites. Knowing me, even if I made another one, the poor thing would just lay forgotten and alone until I got mad enough at LJ to post an entry there.

I don't know how many! It seems to be a completely random at this point, from what I can tell. Over at DW they have codesharing comms in case some people have codes they aren't using, and the people who run the site just sort of randomly hand out codes because they want to create a wide array of people to try it while it's still in beta. I'll shoot you one when I can!

Heee. It's so very, very shiny. You can do so many things you can't do here! Even though I got in on an invite code, I think I'll be happy to drop some cash once paid accounts go on sale.

I'll note that free accounts can't (or, at least, shouldn't be able to) expand comment threads (see here for current account levels and here for paid feature reasonings).

Oh! Good to know. I was able to do it yesterday with my OpenID before I even had an account (which perked me up quite a bit), but maybe that was a bug of some sort. I know they're still putting up the drywall over there.

I don't want to move, but as an alternate journal, this is the best one I've seen. And quite a few people are moving, so I don't want to lose them, which is my main motivation for getting a DW.

I wouldn't move at the moment - not entirely at least, but I guess if a lot of people went I'd be more tempted. Plus like you, as an alternate journal it's the best option I've seen. So many pretty features. Plus, I still have a paid account here at the moment and I don't think I can justify paying for two journals at once.

I'd be tempted to move my fic journal there, though. Hmm.

i must admit i know nothing about this dreamwidth thing, except the name started popping up on my flist a few days ago. i'm tempted, as always, to hop on the bandwagon, but i'm not that eager to do so - i did the IJ thing but that got boring pretty fast :-\

I didn't know anything about it until about two weeks ago, but then I did some clicking and reading and it really seems cool as an alternate journal. But that's me; I just like new toys. :P I followed everyone over to the other journaling sites -- IJ, GJ, JF, Inksome -- and I NEVER use them now, save for IJ because a lot of people post fic and art there now. But this feels different; being able to post to both at the same time means I might actually use the thing. *g*

But mostly I'll have it to keep track of the people who are moving.

How interesting! I like that they allow importing and such because I have a very empty IJ and JF account. Might try it if I can ever manage the time.
