and everything she wants costs money

+ I am having serious Dreamwidth envy at the moment now that everyone seems to be posting with links to theirs. Do want. *curses need to try new shiny things*

+ Dollhouse was awesome last night. Adele >>> all. If Fox cancels it, I will has a sad.

+ I'm up to episode 2x09 of SGA. WTF ya'll, I really like it. I dunno why I never figured I would. :P I hear the latter seasons aren't so good, but for now the writing isn't bad, and the acting is far better than I expect from a genre show like this one. I love Teyla (omg Teyla), John, Rodney, Elizabeth, and Ronon makes me laugh so far. One quibble I have is how many wasted opportunities there are when it comes to Elizabeth, and Teyla at times. They're both so awesome, but they don't get the shining hero moments that John and Rodney trade off on every other episode. It makes me want to check out BSG even more now, because I hear the women are really well handled and written by comparison (actually I hear everything is better written in BSG).

But yeah, every episode makes me ship something different, and I like shows that stay open-ended that way because a lot of times once ships become canon, they go to shit anyway. I hope that doesn't change in later seasons. Right now I'm liking John/Teyla, John/Ronon, John/Elizabeth, and I actually kinda like the McShep dynamic, a lot. And Rodney and Teyla's friendship is so lovely when we actually get to see it. For all his talk about how awesome he is, he gets so adorably flustered/pleased when she acknowledges his bravery. I really like the dynamic between John's team in general. And I could watch John and Teyla sparring all day.

+ Back to tinker with fics some more. Tomorrow, I'm doing Easter-related things with the family and then I'll hopefully write some more.

Are you up to Trinity yet? I dunno which number it is, but it's relatively early in Ronon's tenure.

*waits for you to finish S2 so's you can go read that fic*

I did watch Trinity, earlier today. (That was ep 6, I think.) I thought it was pretty good; hard to watch in parts because I like Rodney, but I think John and Rodney needed that kind of test in their relationship. Also Rodney needs to back off sometimes and realize that he can't do everything and doesn't know everything, even if sometimes he is asked/expected to. I also thought the side thingy with Teyla and Ronon was pretty good.

Haha, I've got that fic bookmarked.

And also, the end, where he waits to apologize to John until last, and then John's all, oh yes you owe me this apology christ on a cracker, and Rodney is all :/ and then changes to :) :) :D when John says oh fine, maybe eventually we'll be okay.

I am, by the way, highly amused that you have SGA icons, a feat I have not managed yet in, what, three years or something?

Re: John and Teyla sparring, I assume the inspiration for that, aside from how Teyla and her sticks are highly worth watching really any old time, would be that one scene during the bug-transformy thing? The one which I'd be okay with watching on repeat all. day. long.? Where he's all ...oh. um. you okay?

Heh.

*waits for you to get to: John's ridiculous tricep in The Return; that other thing in Tao of Rodney, that other other thing you might have seen today in which Rodney takes ....a lot of speed, um, and other things.*

I fail at fic-sending (obviously); if you can manage it later in the day though? Meh.

LOL! The one where he's all "Oh. I don't know what that was, but... huh. it was interesting." And how he was all "you can call me John" and being ridiculously hot? Yeah, that's definitely one of the reasons. :P I liked the scene at the end almost as much, though, with the sheepish apology and her drawing out his discomfort for her own amusement but then taking pity on him and being all 'look, it's fine', and then how relieved they both were that it wasn't going to be weird but how she still called him John. :D Also how she sparred with Ronon that one time and he got all jealous because, hello, that's their thing, wtf. ;)) But they were always gorgeous to watch sparring even before all that stuff.

The speed one was the last one I watched. Oh, Rodney. <333

You can send the fic anytime; I'll be around in the afternoon to look it over. :D

Yeah, you'll probably be back before I'm up, considering I'm, you know, still up.

Same here.

Also, I have a bit of a crush on Sierra :P

P.S. Want Dreamwidth if just to try it out - why don't they have a free trial or something? I guess they will when they open to public, but right now I'm just all O_o 'SHINY! I wants it!'

I have SUCH a crush on Sierra. *g*

They do kind of have a free trial for DW while it's in closed beta, but they aren't extending it to everyone yet. -_-' They are supposedly randomly selecting people who have got openIDs there to hand out accounts, and then those folks have a few invite codes, which they give out to whomever. Just so they have a large and spread-out group of people to go around using things and trying them out and reporting bugs.

On the 30th, they'll switch to open beta and let everyone pick up accounts, which they will have to either get via invite code, or spending money. *hopes for invite code even though I probably won't mind paying for it at a later date anyway if it's good*

[identity profile] cloverdew.livejournal.com 2009-04-12 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Why pay for something when I can get it for free? I don't think I'll leave LJ, but I'd like to have a DW account if everyone else does. :P *is a sheep*

Must beg for access code.

Oh me too, but I think I am happy to stay here in the long run.

Oh, I'm definitely not leaving LJ. *clings to it* But I still want to join the Dreamwidth fun because it all looks so shiny.

[identity profile] lesemma.livejournal.com 2009-04-12 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I looked at the dreamwidth thing and I don't quite get it. Plus, it's EXPENSIVE. F that noise, yo. But, knowing me, I'll jump on the bandwagon if someone points to it.

It's basically a new journaling service started by someone who used to work for LJ, and they're trying to make it as fandom-friendly as possible with as few of LJ's current limitations as possible (more userpics, a bigger comment-limit, a better friending system - though that actually looks a tad complicated to me). They're also more clear about the rules and open with the way they run things, which was a major fandom quibble with TPTB at LJ. You can get it for free if you get an invite code from someone else.

I have no intention of leaving LJ because everyone's here and most of my flist will still be here, but I know me well enough to accept that I won't be able to resist grabbing an account if I can. :P Especially now that a fair few people seem to be getting into it already.

[identity profile] zvi-likes-tv.livejournal.com 2009-04-13 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Once the service opens, there will be a lot of invite codes available, and those will allow one to set up a free account. The starting price for creating a journal w/o an invite code will be US$3 (http://wiki.dwscoalition.org/notes/Account_levels). I understand how it might be more than one could afford for an internet toy, but I don't see that it's ZOMG expensive as compared to similar services. a typepad account costs US$5/month (http://www.typepad.com/pricing/), by comparison, and doesn't have a free option, but a free trial.

[identity profile] lesemma.livejournal.com 2009-04-13 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the info! I had thought the pricing was a bit higher, but I might have been thinking of the yearly cost and then the yearly cost for the higher level of service.

*nods* Yeah, it is higher than LJ, but they are planning to fund the site solely through user dollars, no third parties.

One thing about Dollhouse: they throw at least one OMFG moment at you every week. I'll has a sad too if Fox cancels it.

Oh, thought of you earlier today when I was watching 3rd Rock and Joe was apparently about 12 years old and maybe 5 feet tall :P
