you're my person.
In which I happysigh over tonight's Grey's Anatomy and how it reminded me why I used to love this show so much. <3
+ THAT FIRST SCENE. OWEN D:D:D: I was afraid they were writing him out of the show or something, which would suck because I love this arc. But Owen? If you ever touch a hair on Christina's head again it will be on. THAT WAS SO DISTURBING. I kind of didn't even want her to stick with him, even though it was sort of romantic that she did, it's one of those things that you know would only work on TV. PTSD at the level that he has it is so dangerous. :/ So I was really glad that at the end, it didn't work out and we got to see just how scared Christina still is, and that Owen's getting help of the non-shagging variety, because he needs it. Big time. Also, how awesome was Callie and Meredith's protectiveness of her? LOVE.
+ I liked that George got more than two lines even if he was an asshat.
+ I like that Derek shaved that ridiculous beard.
+ I love Callie Torres.
+ The whole Izzie thing, and Alex's reactions to it were perfect. The subplot with the old lady was every bit as touching and the way it gave Alex perspective was great. It was really heartbreaking seeing him cry, and as much as Izzie has annoyed me these last couple seasons, I don't think it'd be the same show without her so I hope she pulls through.
+ Miranda Bailey might be my favorite character EVER.
+ Actually the elevator thing was kind of lovely. Meredith is much more bearable in relationships when she's strong like this, and I think the role reversal where she's being strong for Derek rather than needing him to save her and make her better every time ... it really helps their dynamic and makes it more palatable to me. So yeah, even the MerDer didn't detract from the epic of tonight's ep.
Why, especially?
Because the last scene was Meredith and Christina being each other's person. AS IT SHOULD BE. Even though Mere just got engaged for real this time. And no matter what, no matter what man they're each with, or what else is going on, it ALWAYS comes back to them. They always put each other first. It is so rare to see that kind of relationship between women on TV. Their BFF-ness is probably the best thing about the show. And a perfect cap to a great episode.

I agree with most of what you said. Honestly part of what has made the show for me is how Mereditch and Christina are each other's 'person'. I admit that's always been a fondness of mine. Whether it's television, whether it's novels, whether it's fanfic - you get the idea - I have such a soft spot for strong female friendships. Just because you get engaged/have a date/are lusting after a man doesn't mean that that dynamic has to go away. That's the one nice thing about Grey's, is that they've had that. So very very few things have that type of relationship.
George...well, he got more than his usual background appearance. I think it's time for him to go though since he pretty much brings nothing to the table. I forget he's even friends with them half the time *snort*
Ah, Owen. *needs Grey's icons* I am glad they didn't gloss over the PTSD by going 'hey, the romanticized sex cured him'. Still, uh, at the same time - I know I missed part of the episode when I took a phone call, but unless I missed something else PTSD doesn't show up on an MRI.....so unless they're giving him a lobotomy this is more in the therapy realm., lol.
Here's to hoping Grey's is on an upswing.

THIS. I don't know if I can name another female relationship on a show right now, besides maybe Gwen and Morgana (and they suffer from acute lack of screentime), that I can say that about. It's refreshing when it happens; usually females' relationships with one another have something to do with the men in their lives -- if they're lucky enough to actually get along. Most producers love putting women at odds with each other at some point along the way. Which is another thing I love about Christina and Meredith -- they've never competed for anything except surgeries. *g*
Sadly, agreed about George.
Good point, re: the MRI. Maybe he's just checking to make 100% sure there's nothing else affecting his personality? Brain damage can do that. *hopes for the best, and if not, wonders if they fired the person who they have making sure they get most of the medical stuff right* :P
And I'm down to one Grey's icon. *g*
