Title: Candles

Summary: There are a lot of candles in Morgana's rooms.

There are a lot of candles in Morgana's rooms. Before she leaves each night for her own house, which has far fewer sconces and could fit comfortably inside this space, Gwen moves from chamber to chamber and extinguishes them all. It takes time, but Gwen doesn't mind. These are usually among the quietest moments of her day, when the bustle of the castle starts to wind down, and she begins to feel a heaviness in her own limbs from the day's work.
It's also quite nice to listen to Morgana as she prepares for sleep. Sometimes they talk, and that's nice as well; it's easier with her. Gwen doesn't feel as if she's always having to catch up to her tongue, doesn't make herself flustered and red-faced.
Not that she doesn't ever blush. Sometimes, Gwen feels Morgana's eyes on her and it puts a flush in her skin that she can feel to her toes. But that's different. Entirely different.
Lately, their conversations are longer, and Gwen knows it's because her lady is much more reluctant to sleep these days. On nights like this, she takes extra time putting out the candles, and works a little harder to fill the silence. By the time she circles back around to Morgana's bed to douse the candle on the wall, Gwen thinks she can sometimes catch the glint of a smile in her eyes, briefly replacing the anxiety. On those nights, Gwen sleeps better herself.
It's almost organic, the first time Morgana asks her to stay. As she reaches over to put out the candle, she feels Morgana's hand on her wrist, long fingers circling it lightly. Gwen's gaze lands on hers, and her heart races even as she drops to sit on the edge of the bed. "My lady?"
Gwen can barely finish the question as Morgana leans forward and kisses her, her lips sliding against hers. She pulls back nearly as quickly, leaving Gwen to sway toward her just slightly. "My... Morgana."
"Gwen." Morgana's still touching her; her hand has found its way up Gwen's arm and over her shoulder, resting lightly at her neck. "Just ... stay."
She feels it again, that all-over flush, and all she can do is nod before she leans in to feel Morgana's lips on hers again. Each time they ease back and lean in again, it gets better, and soon Gwen is touching too because she's thought about this; she's imagined trailing her finger across her lady's collarbones. She's thought of tasting the column of Morgana's throat.
It's just that she didn't exactly imagine that Morgana wanted to touch her, too.
When Morgana's fingers slip beneath the collar of Gwen's dress and slide it off her shoulder, Gwen ducks her head and licks her lips. "I should put the candle out."
"Leave it," Morgana murmurs, meeting her eyes for just a moment before she moves her gaze down Gwen's body. "Let me see you."
Gwen rather wants to see Morgana as well, but it's difficult not to feel self-conscious. It isn't just that Morgana is so beautiful by comparison -- though god knows that she is -- it's also that Gwen has never felt so out of her depth. Morgana keeps dragging the dress down, pausing when Gwen brings her hand up to catch the material before it can drop away from her breasts. "Don't," Morgana whispers against Gwen's ear, making her shiver. "Please, Gwen. You're so lovely."
She wouldn't have needed to say it, Gwen thinks, gasping at the feeling of Morgana's lips on her neck. The way she looks at her makes it easy to understand. She reaches for Morgana and lets the dress fall.
