Miscellaneous Monday

*yawn*

*** I got an Inksome account. Not that I'm running away from LJ or even considering it, but since GJ is gone, I figured I might as well replace it with Inksome. Anyhow, if you want to add me, I'm here: http://www.inksome.com/users/heather11483/

I can't seem to find many other users or communities easily, so it would help. :P

*** Watched the Golden Globes last night - they actually weren't bad. I kind of like that the Globes don't do all the song-and-dance, lame host patter that the Oscars do. I was really happy that Slumdog Millionaire won four awards; it was brilliant -- and Dev and Frieda are so adorable I can't stand it. They were so wide-eyed and excited and star-struck, and when Dev got all teary I just wanted to hug him. Also, Frieda is insanely gorgeous; it's not even funny.

I was also really happy that Kate Winslet finally won something, and getting both actress and supporting actress in the same year is a big deal. She needs to win at least one Oscar, finally. Though I was a bit concerned, lol, she was seriously hyperventilating on stage. And I know her husband was right there and all, but her gushing over Leo and how much she loves him, and has loved him for 13 years and then he blew a kiss at her? That and seeing him tear up for her made my heart flutter a bit. :P Also really glad Mad Men won for best drama. :D Oh, and Mickey Rourke! I love a comeback story, and he's had such a rough life. Really looking forward to watching The Wrestler.

Hugs to everyone who needs them today. ♥

Shows what I know. I didn't know GJ was gone... but whatever. I never used mine. I'd like to get an inksome account, but it looks like you need a code. Do you have one to give?

LOL, I rarely used my GJ either. :P It was just useful for finding PB icons and such.

I can't give codes unless I pay for my account. :/ But I'll see what I can do.

And yes, Kate was awesome. Both her speeches were epic, too.

Because of the GG, I want to see "Slumdog Millionaire" now. Just because it beat out all those big movies.

I could probably give you The Wrestler if you want, if you can wait until I get home from work. ;P
But yes, the Wrestler is VERY GOOD. I recommend it to everyone, even if you don't much like wrestling like me. It's very well written.

You need to see Slumdog -- it's really fantastic, it's like the little movie that could and I'm really glad it's doing so well.

I already have The Wrestler, but thank you! ♥ I just need to get round to watching it. ;) Now I'm extra motivated.

Hmm, inksome. A site I've never heard of. I've contemplated doing duplicate posts to another site with the...possibility of LJ issues, but I planned that during the last 'scare' and never did then either. (I really should figure out how to backup) That site looks a lot better though in terms of icons and format - though exclusive in it's 'needing a code' for signup. An online popularity thing, ha.

Though if I had to plan a mass exodus, I think I'd like it better than insanejournal based on first impression.

I skipped the GG's since I've discovered I can't stand awards show (except maybe the opening skits for the Oscars if they still do those) - but I'm happy to hear Slumdog Millionaire did well. For all I dislike Titanic, I think Kate Winslet is a great actress - and though I have yet to see this specific movie, glad that was recognized :)

I can walk you through backing up your LJ anytime. :D

Inksome replaced Scribblit, if you're familiar with that one. I really like it, asthetically; I mean, sure there are fewer options for layouts unless you install an LJ stylesheet under advanced customization (which is what I did for insanejournal), and you don't get the nifty things like top sidebars. But having 150 userpics with a free account is amazing, and it's faster than insanejournal (i know, because there aren't as many people on the server yet, heh). I prefer it to IJ except for the fact that there aren't many people or comms yet.

I can't give codes until I pay for an account, but I'll see what I can do.

Yeah, I haven't seen Revolutionary Road or The Reader, but for her to win for both, they must have both been amazing. I 'acquired' Rev. Road, just need to find time to watch. ;)

Don't worry too much on my account re: codes, since I assume even once somebody 'pays' there is a limit to how many you can acquire. I'm sure there are more people really looking for one. The userpics are a really nice draw though if it comes down to leaving LJ, and I can't do shit with layouts anyway *snort*

Now, if LJ implodes do try and remember me.... ;)

(I have to say of the two, Rev Road is the one I want to see the most. *whistles* I think I'll acquire it soon as well)

I have an inksome too. But I haven't really done much with it yet or looked around. I've added you anyway.

I didn't watch the Globes, but I'm glad "Slumdog" won. For my money it was the best movie of 2008 (and yes, I've seen Revolutionary Road, Benjamin Button, etc... The only one I haven't seen is the Tom Cruise pic because I refuse to give money to that whack job nut case).

And now I have a DVR so I won't miss new eps of Smallville (but why was JRM the only one from The Tudor's nominated...Surely Natalie Dormer deserved one)?
