Eeep.

I was talking to my mom on the phone this morning, and she told me she isn't doing a tree this year. They're older now, and everyone's now moved out and they get tired of doing the whole big family thing because it's a lot of work for them.

So then I was all "oh noes, why not just come up here? I'll get a tree, whee!" (I've never really done it, because I'd always just go down there.)

Heh.

So, a hundred-fiftyish bucks and about 87 teeny cuts on my fingers later, I now have a tree, and trimmings and candy canes and lights and everything. It's likely that more money will be spent over the next two weeks, and what was I thinking and shit.

I spent like a half hour trying to muscle that thing out of my car (because I'm a dumbass who got one that has the huge burlap sack full of dirt around the base?), and damn, those pine needles are sharp. And now said car seriously needs to meet a vacuum hose.

However, the tree smells great! I might be looking forward to getting it decorated and all.

Now, off to try and write drabbles and RP.

I miss having a tree. It's so nice having it there, sadly there just isn't enough room for it. I'll have to wrap some tinsel around the chimney or something. :)

Christmas this year is so weird for me. Without my gran here, I'm just not that motivated to do anything. I need to send out cards, finish buying the kids gifts, and wrap stuff, but I just lack the holiday spirit. I do like seeing our tree but, yeah, that's about it. Heh.

I haven't had my own tree since moving out, so it's kind of nice having it, I have to admit.

*hugs*

OOooo. I have a little mini one I got from Trader Joe's in the corner of my room. It's small and cute and came with lights and smells really good. I actually need to go water it. And ... it's in a pot. I can plant it in the spring :) Heh.

Good for you!!!

We did a real tree last year and I must say it will never happen again. I commend you for the effort! My parents didn't put up a tree this year either, so I know the feeling.

*grins* My parents did fake trees for the longest time -- I guess I wanted to try a real one for the first time since I was a girl. Lot more work, though, haha.

Also ♥ Yeah, I was like "wait, so ... no tree? D:" Apparently I'm more into Christmas than I thought I was. :P

Christmas isn't Christmas without a tree :) Even in my tiny little apartment I had a cheap one I got from the...dollar store or some place like that, just because it didn't feel like the holidays without it. This year Christmas hasn't really felt....well, joyful and Christmasy really, but now that the tree is up it's helping.

Enjoy "hosting" Christmas. I imagine lots of work involved, ha.

You know, I haven't felt very Christmas-y this season, either. I think that might be why I got the tree in the first place and why my parents not wanting to do it made me so frowny this morning.

My father grows Christmas trees. Not commercially, just for our family. And since they're not grown professionally, they often end up looking a bit odd. Like the time we had one with no needles on a third of it. (Luckily it fit into the corner.) Or the Christmas Bush, which was as wide as it was tall. Moving it inside was always a pain, literally, because my father also grows really prickly trees. But the smell and look was always worth it. This is my second Christmas in Japan and my second without a tree, and I miss it. Props to you for organizing yourself like that! And you could always make popcorn garlands and those oranges stuffed with cloves and such to save a bit of money on decorations.

It's funny, I got one when I moved out! Just living with Grandma every bit of the room is taken up, just no room for my huge plastic thing. :)

Oh, wow! No matter how it's shaped, it must be pretty special having something home-grown. I think we cut down our own Christmas tree a couple times when I was a young girl, but we always did it at those tree farms. :P

*goes to look up how to make clove-orange things, because it sounds like that would smell really good*
