Just because I haven't updated in a while. XD

** So You Think You Can Dance ended last night, and yes, I'm fan of the show, even if I don't, like, vote or anything. ha. But the dancing and talent are spectacular, and Sabra won! She was my second fave after Danny, who still finished second, so I'm happy. Ah, they were so brilliant. -happy sigh- Just sorry that I can't watch Danny dance every week anymore. :D

** I start class again (grad school) on the 30th. Intro to Bioinformatics every Thursday night after work. It's just one class a week which isn't bad, but with studying and such it cuts into fandom time. meh.

** I signed up for

sexy_brilliance and

hermione_smut, and haven't started my fics for either as yet. *headdesk*

sexy_brilliance is due in two weeks, so that's the first order of business. God, and I said I'd not do another exchange. WTF, self?

** Why yes, I do have a new layout. :D I think I might keep it for a while. And I spent way too much time replicating it at my three other journals. (I'm the same username at Insane Journal, Greatest Journal, and JournalFen, so as always, feel free to add me.)

** I'm beyond tired of reading posts and comments about Boldgate and

lj_biz and SixApart and and and. It can be quite addictive to follow it all, but now I'm completely overloaded with it. (ETA: Although, really, to make just one more comment about things, I must express LOLWTF-age over Pepsi-sponsored ~~v-gifts~~ advertisements for paid users. srsly? No, srsly?) Suffice it to say that I'm posting to all four journals and that I'm keeping up with my other f-lists so I don't lose anyone who's leaving LJ. One thing, though: Does anyone know of a good tutorial for Semagic? I guess I just need to set aside the time to try and figure it out.

Bioinformatics----how interesting. What applications of it were you interested in? I took for my public health degree and found it fascinating but drove my professor nuts with constantly needing help with my computer---he wasn't cute so it definitely wasn't a ploy to get his attention.

Well, this course will be an overview, as it's one of the core courses for the M.S. program, but in my work, I mainly deal with the software used to analyze DNA and protein sequences. Programs that align sequences, phylogenetic trees, and then using databases like BLAST.

Hee, hopefully a lot of the coursework will be stuff I already do at work, so maybe it'll be easy. *hopes* :D

Hee! I love that icon because it's so perfect for when I'm in a dorky mood. :P

And thank you! The layout was a lot of work, and it's not even like I made it from scratch, haha. It's Opal Libra (S2), but I got this template that varies from the pre-loaded Opal style, from

halffling(if you look at the bottom of her page, she links to her entry where you can find the template). And I installed it as a layer over the pre-loaded Opal Style (she gives directions), then went in and added colors and background, and header and such.

The cool thing about IJ is, as long as you've a paid account, you can use the exact same template as LJ because they also have Opal Libra over there. Once I formatted all the colors and settings the way I wanted them in LJ I copy/pasted the whole template into IJ's layer editor. header, background, and all. :D I just had to change the link to the header I made to say insanejournal instead of livejournal, lol.

GJ and JF don't have Opal as an available style (or very many styles at all), so I couldn't use that template, but there are others available. I imported Flexible Squares stylesheets into both those accounts and applied the colors, background, and header to those.

/ramble I'm not great with html and technology either, but there are links and tutorials available, and then a lot of trying different things to see what happens. :P Let me know and I can link you to the templates and tutorials I used. ^_^ I was so proud when it worked. LOL

Bioinformatics just deals with using the different software and web databases that are used to analyze data. I work in biotech and use some of those applications, so I'm hoping at least some of it will be easy. haha!

Oh, your hermione smut is someone you fangirl? That was me for

hp_summersmut. OMG, so much pressure because I knew how good she is and was somewhat wondering how anything I could write could ever measure up. LOL! I was so blocked, but I finally wrote it, and I'm actually really happy with how it turned out. :D

In a way, exchanges are good for me, because I feel tremendous pressure to get things right so my recipient enjoys it. And while pressure isn't really fun, I'm one of those people who thrives with it. :P

And yes, haha, I suppose I'm a masochist with the grad school. My schedule's very light as I work full time, but man, one class at a time is enough, plzkthnx. XD

Hee! You aren't a git. *hugs back* I think it would have been a jolt for me, too, to see my icon looking back at me from someone else's post. The only icons I make on my own are the ones at my RP journals, which aren't very hard to make at all, but I think even I would be like "...wait" if I saw one of my J-GL or Welling icons somewhere. :p No worries!
