she's so weird, she just, you know, came up to me and started talking to me about crack
Doctor Who 5x06, Vampires of Venice - that was pretty good!
+ Right, so that stuff about the dead race, that was a direct reference to Runaway Bride, right? With the spider race that Ten killed? I think this is the first bit of continuity between Eleven and and his former selves - something I've felt's been somewhat missing from the reboot. Anyway I like that the death of the fishies gave Eleven some pause.
+ It was hard for me to take Mama's Boy seriously. He's Sir William and Gilbert the Ghost, I just can't. *g* But yay for Alex Price showing up on my TV shows every once in a while like an old friend.
+ The clicky-fishies were creepy. I have an deep aversion to anything with too many legs, whether it's in RL or on TV. Why is it the species that keep dying off have too many legs? EVOLUTION. (jk, jk)
+ The cracks are back! Everything in the universe is running from them, seems like. That moment at the end where everything goes silent was more genuinely creepy and unsettling than the cracks that opened in the walls in past episodes.
+ Getting major Mickey flashbacks with Rory, though I'm almost positive it'll end differently and he and Amy will stay together. I love Rory, by the way, as I loved Mickey. He even has/had a similar arc to Mickey's, which I kind of liked, where they go from hapless to brave and competent. Mickey's arc was obvs longer though. *g*
I felt a major pang for him with the whole father/brother thing between him and Amy and the Doctor, again as I did with the Rose/Mickey situation which also played with how hard it can be to go back to a normal life. Still, it was written and played really well and I sympathized with Amy as well as Rory. I loved how adorable the Doctor was through it all. There were some great one-liners throughout.
Rory's scenes with the doctor were great, whether they were humorous (lol the flashlights) or serious (the scene about how the Doctor makes people a danger to themselves). Ultimately the Amy/Rory at the end was delightful, Amy has invited him to come along (yay!), AND NOW WE HAVE OUR SECOND TEAM TARDIS OF THE SEASON. Amy called them her BOYS. <3333 I am so weak for M/M/F OT3s. Of course I ship it.
+ Let's not forget how Amy dove right into the action when they got there (like a boss), TOTALLY saved Rory's life, and stayed awesome and wonderful. &AMY;
Next week's looks very timey-wimey. I love the eps that play around with timelines and parallels and whatnot.
