lost my muchness, have I?

I saw Alice! Mostly it was wonderful. I saw it in 3D, which was pretty cool. The last thing I saw in 3D was Coraline, and it wasn't nearly as ... 3D (?) As Alice was, by which I guess I mean it seemed like more things were jumping out at me. Every scene had lots and lots of depth. Although some of it verged on irritating in the beginning, before I was used to it. I don't recommend it if you get vertigo easily.

+ So that was about girls, starring girls, with positive messages for girls! And Wonderland has no kings! Except for the one whose head is in the Red Queen's moat! But he is not important!

+ Alice was so lovely. SO LOVELY. Really impressed with Mia Wasikowska, who portrayed Alice's burgeoning fierceness really well. She is also adorable. I love the moment Alice decided to take control of her 'dream' ("I make my path") and how, once she realised it wasn't actually a dream, she still decided that she could do whatever she believed she could do.

I really loved everything she wore, too, in particular her slick shiny armour, and that red and black dress she wore in the Red Queen's castle.

+ Alan Rickman's caterpillar was really great, he was JUST different enough from Snape's voice to be convincing. Loved the Cheshire Cat and the doormouse as well. And OMG Bayard! So adorable.

+ Johnny Depp kept switching in and out of a Scottish accent. I'm going to blame it on the mad thing. The film wasn't as Hatter-centric as I feared it might be. And he was good.

+ Helena Bonham Carter remains hilarious and fabulous, and I appreciated the film tried to humanize the red Queen.

+ I really liked Anne Hathaway in her role, she was a little crazy and spacey, but sharp and not a hundred percent good. Also she is a scientist. *\o/*

+ The ending left me a bit flat - not the ending in Wonderland; awesome slayage was awesome (and how cool was it when she went up in the air and swooped down with that sword?). But after that, once she was home. I'm not sure why. I'm glad that Alice took more control over her own life and decided to pursue her dreams. I totally get the point. BUT, idk. Maybe it was the trading with China. Happy Imperialism, The End.

ANYWAY I had loads of fun with the movie, would see again, and would definitely recommend it!

Unrelatedly, I need to decide whether I want to keep watching the health care debates or distract myself until around 7pm.
