so

I didn't hate The Vampire Diaries. Far from hated it, actually.

I mean. I didn't love it, but yeah. Compare anything to Twilight and it's pretty good, right? That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I never read the books. I have them on my hard drive, but I haven't bothered to read them yet. Now I might.

So the lead. I mentioned I didn't care for her on Degrassi, but she's actually pretty good in this. I like her characterization. Like most of these teen vampire things, she's emo, but it's because her parents died, and recently, so yeah. And she's trying to move past it, trying to take care of her brother, trying NOT to be emo. She's got spine. And I like her best friend - she's gorgeous, she's not in the background; but here's hoping she gets to have her own arc and some romantic prospects as well. Would be a nice change from what we usually see.

The guy, Stefan, bores me a bit. I first saw the actor on Smallville (I think), playing Lex Luthors prodigal brother, and he was more interesting in that, so maybe he'll be more interesting as this show goes on. Also, he's cute with Elaina, and they have an awful lot in common considering that one is dead and one is not.

Ian Somerhalder was more interesting - pretty awesome, actually. Both are smoking hot, though. I was not reading their confrontation as slashy. I was not reading their confrontation as slashy. I was not

Actually, Ex-boyfriend is adorable, too. Good lord, his EYES in that scene with his sister.

Also, I liked some of the music. Usually I get a little territorial when bands I like land on CW shows like this but I'm trying to not be a music snob, because who likes music snobs, right? ANYWAY. There was some Stars, and the one MGMT song that I like, and Placebo's Running up that Hill, which is an awesome song that fits the atmosphere and I like that they didn't use songs that are BRAND NEW.

I'll keep watching, I think.

True Blood finale tonight OMG. And Mad Men.
