True Blood 2x09
BWEEEE. Awesome episode was awesome.
I still don't really care about Eric/Sookie, but to be fair I don't care about Bill/Sookie either, and at least with Eric/Sookie, there is half-naked Eric. UNNNNNNF. I didn't realise how long I'd been waiting for Eric to get half-naked on this show, even if it was just a dream sequence. Again, UNNNNNF. He was so hot and so amazing in this episode. I still maintain that he's never going to love anyone like he loved Godric, and his last scene killed me.
But he's still an ass, and I love that! Please, fandom, don't woobify him. He tricked Sookie into drinking his blood, and now who knows if what Sookie's feeling for him is even honest or not. I hope there's no cheating. Bill seems like he knows he's losing her. It'll be interesting how that plays out, though I'm not big on triangles.
I liked the Jessica/Hoyt better this week because Hoyt showed some signs of being a man. Loved him telling off his mama.
My favorite parts of the ep had nothing to do with ships, though. LAFAYETTE WAS SO AWESOME. I loved seeing him in kickass mode, and love how protective he is of Tara. Him yelling at Eggs was so freaking epic, and Eggs was an asshole about the eyelashes even though he was more or less innocent - then later when Lafayette beat the crap out of him and dragged Tara off I was so happy; I've been waiting for someone to drag Tara off for weeks. LOL. I just wish her fucking useless mother hadn't been there, she didn't help at all. The only thing that sequence with Tara throttling her accomplished was to show how vulnerable Tara still is, and how Maryann is still able to manipulate her. And now Eggs and Maryann are alone in Sookie's damn house, and I can't wait for Sookie to get home and find them there and put them the hell out, finally. I hope before the season's over, we get some more Sookie and Tara interaction.
Speaking of Sookie I LOVED her scene with Jason. For me that's what's been missing for her this whole season. Which has been mostly her between Bill and Eric, being saved again and again. Last season she did some saving of her own, and saved herself, even while she was falling in love, and she was so sad and strong when her gran died, and I miss that. Seeing her be strong and supportive for Jason was so necessary and so nice to see. And AAWWWW, JASON.
I can't wait to see what Sam and Andy get up to. It'll be awesome seeing dumbass Andy be the town's unlikely savior. And damn, do I want Maryann to die in a fire already.
Godric's scene with Sookie made me a little teary even though Godric fell a bit short of my expectations for him. It might seem weird to say but I like vampires having a little bit of pride in what they are. If the Light of Day debacle showed anything it's that humans are no less bloodthirsty and it's all about the choices you make. I LIKE that Bill and Eric kick ass sometimes, and attack people when they deserve it -- without being the same as the dude in the cowboy hat whose name escapes me at the moment.
The way Eric tricked Sookie was weird and implausible, though. Sookie's not dumb enough to fall for that 'suck the silver out' bullshit. If she had to get it out she could've found a knife or something.
And did I mention how thoroughly SICK I am of Maryann? LOL.
