Merls 3x03 - A Study In Gifs
I HAVE NOTHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS EPISODE EXCEPT VARIATIONS ON "LMAO WHAT" AND "HNNNNNNGH NNNNNGUH" SO YOU GET VISUALS IN RELATIVE ORDER
+ blah blah blah Geoffrey chillin, Merlin releases goblin, blah blah blah
GREASE SLIDE
blah blah blah, Arthur and Merlin, blah blah spring cleaning.
Goblin (nice CGI btw) takes weird interest in Morgana's jewelry.
Merlin also takes interest in Morgana's jewelry.
Between the dress and this Gwen's starting to suspect something, but it's cool, he just wants to be pretty.
Arthur takes Merls and Gauis to Uther, who refuses to come out from behind the screen because he looks way too ridiculous.
Totally understandable. Later, Merlin robs Arthur in the middle of the night, but Arthur is a clever chap and doesn't miss a trick.
LOL, sit down Arthur. So then Merlin does a fabulous job of catching the goblin with Gaius' body. Meanwhile Morgana's not sleeping well because her bracelet got jacked, so she goes to see Gaius because ...she still trusts him. Oooookay. Anyway, he's acting strange.
Morgeezy: I'm the king's ward and you shall do as I ask!
Gaius: ~*~Ooooooooooooohh~*~.
You tell him, Morgeezy. So then "Gaius" tells her he sees through to her cold black heart, blah blah blah, then ...she decides to take his potion anyway. But everyone's on acid in this ep so whatevs.
Then Gaius tries to charge Gwen for some potion.
Gwen: This motherfucker.
That's verbatim. So she pays him anyway, because boils, and also everyone's on acid.
Meanwhile Gaius has to heal Uther, leading to the feel-good moment of my life:
ON LOOP FOREVER.
By now Merlin's onto Gaius, but not before everyone starts farting in court. I cannot be arsed to gif all that, or ever revisit ever again so let's talk about Uther for a moment.
IT'S A GOOD THING HE FOUND SOMETHING TO MAKE HIM LOOK LESS RIDICULOUS.
Merlin's kind of badass with the Goblin but there's not much for him to do at this point.
...Especially when Arthur arrests him.
Which was kind of bullshit if you compare it to 2x06. But I find I'm not that angry because Arthur probably realises he can't get much done if he causes a ruckus in the middle of court. Going off on Uther never leads to the desired result. So he actually figures it out on his own, traps Gaius into confirming his own suspicions, and finds out the truth that way. He is generally not an idiot in this ep, and that's nice to see. Too bad he couldn't get much further than that on account of the donkey ears.
But before I get ahead of myself let's pause and consider Morgana's face when Merlin gets dragged off.
Which I enjoyed far too much.
Gaius returns to the bar and runs into Leon, who I found kind of attractive for the first time. But then this happens:
Yep, that's how you teach someone respect.
Anyway, some more stuff happens, Merlin breaks out of jail, etc, THEN THIS HAPPENS.
AND THIS
AND I STILL SHIP IT AND ALSO HOW IS SHE SO GORGEOUS AND ALSO WHY DOES SHE EVER PUT HER HAIR UP EVER THAT DOESN'T EVEN COMPUTE
So then Gwen needs to talk to Arthur but she CAN'T OMG CAN'T because she's adorable and I would be the same way. I'd get an alias and leave the country.
Unfortunately Merlin has his face and Gwen would still grant him anything.
Anyway, cue Arthur/Gaius entrapment scene of awesome that I mentioned.
Then cue this cuteness:

I cannot handle how ridiculous and adorable it is, and how she totally gave him a donkeyhappy and then they both realise it and she's all "oh! jeez :SSSS" and then tears outta there. AND BASICALLY, THEIR STUPID FACES.
So then Gwen and Merlin have more scenes and laugh together and work to trap Gaius and lurk around corners together.
LOOK AT THAT SHIT, GOD. THEY SHOULD HAVE ALL THE SCENES.
so anyway, anyway, stuff happens, there's a LOT of Gwen's cleavage, the the goblin's trapped again, everything's fine.
And then Arthur and Gwen have awkwardness and it is sooooooo awkward, and adorable, and don't worry kids, there comes a point in every relationship where there's farting and donkey ears and you can't look at each other for a while.
CUTENESS.
Then Merlin lets Arthur bray for one more day, the end. Thus concludes the visual story of how I could never ever hate this episode as much as I expected to. EVER. In case it's still not clear why, have another look at those Gwen screencaps. THERE WERE LINES, PEOPLE, LINES.
