Quick Pimp and Picspam
Sep. 5th, 2008 10:12 pm-- So first, a pimp. It's not for a fic, and it's not for anything I did, and for once, it's not my RPG (LOL); it's just a set of icons like the one I've used in this post that are pretty much made of win. There's a whole slew of them here.

-- I went to do the volunteering thing last night. It was pretty neat, and this week I'll be working myself up to making a few phone calls for my guy.
-- I'm excited about the new tv premiering in the next few weeks. So, since I can't think of anything else to say for this post, I made a little picspam to celebrate. Warning, some might find these spoilery, but then again I hate spoilers and didn't feel spoiled at all, so. Go have a look and judge for yourself! Lots of ficcers and artists are showing up and representing. I'm on there somewhere, cause I figured what the hell. *grins*
Obviously ficcers are hotter, but that's okay because this is just for fun anyway. *cough* *runs away giggling*

Jan. 31st, 2008 12:42 pmHaven't updated in ages, because I suck at distributing my online time properly, but I had to mention -- we has openings at the RPG I'm in! *bounces around* It's road_ahead of course, and I've long since stopped spamming my lovely f-list with squee about it, but even if I've been quiet there's still lots to squee about; especially this week. We've got several characters we'd really love to cast asap, so if you've ever considered RPing or joining a new game, take a look (and this is pretty much lifted from inell's journal):
Dean Thomas, who is sharing a house with Seamus & Neville, working as an apprentice to Ollivander, and going back for NEWTs.
Lee Jordan, who is now working in PR for the Ministry and has recently become romantically involved with George Weasley.
Hannah Abbott, who is getting ready to go back to school for her NEWTs while working as an intern at St. Mungos, where she wants to eventually become a mediwitch, and dealing with the recent realization that she's gay.
Susan Bones, who is getting ready for NEWT courses and interning in Magical Law where she hopes to eventually become a Hit Wizard.
Ernie Macmillan, who is interning in International Law and going back for his NEWTs.
There's also Angelina Johnson, Theodore Nott, Anthony Goldstein, Marcus Flint, and more, both recast and brand new.
I've got Harry Potter (who makes me so very happy even when he's driving me nuts) and Greg Goyle (who is worlds more fun to write than I thought he'd be!), and I recently picked up Roger Davies (who, evidently, I can't let go). And the rest of our gorgeous cast are some of the coolest people I've ever played with, as well as some of the best writers. The game is focused on characterization and interaction, and it goes for realism versus crack or simply smut/shipping. The Mods are actively involved, so if you prefer an environment where they aren't, it's not the game for you. It's only been open three months, and it deals directly with the aftermath following the battle of Hogwarts, so, depending on the character, there's a chance there would be little to nothing to catch up on beyond trials, Ministry info, etc. The Mods will totally help get you up to speed, as will other players! There are limited casting opportunities available atroad_ahead! We haven't officially reopened casting for everyone, but, due to RL circumstances, we've lost a few characters that we'd really like to have played. A couple never had a chance to post at all, so they're open for development, and the others posted 1-3 times during the first days of the game. If you've been thinking about joining an RPG or you've been following road_ahead and want to participate, maybe one of these characters will speak to you! The casting list is here, but we are open for applications for the following:
Charlie Weasley, who is the only Weasley we don't have. He has been played a few times right after the battle, has Marc Blucas as his PB, and is a decent bloke who loves his family but also loves his freedom, hence the move to Romania. He's close to Bill, loves all his siblings, dated Tonks briefly back at school, and he's got a brain. He has all the Weasleys and older characters for interaction. Anthony Goldstein, Jewish halfblood with an active Michael and Terry along with quite a few other Ravenclaws. Hestia Jones, mid-20s Healer and Order member who's only posted once, so her background is open for development beyond anything that was mentioned in the one thread. Gawain Robards, 50s Head of Aurors who is needed for Ministry-related plots and has Kingsley, Andromeda, Arthur, etc. for interaction automatically. Theodore Nott, who is a Slytherin Pureblood that left the castle during the Battle of Hogwarts but didn't join Voldemort (though this is open to discussion, we don't want a crazy/psycho undeveloped Theodore) [Note: We have every other Slytherin in his year except Tracey Davis]. Adrian Pucey, who is a Slytherin 1-2 years older than Harry and open for development. Xenophilius Lovegood, who recently was released from Azkaban and is now starting to work on rebuilding his house with Luna.
The game is focused on characterization and interaction, and it goes for realism versus crack or smut. The Mods are actively involved, so if you prefer an environment where they aren't, it's not the game for you. It's only been open three weeks, and it deals directly with the aftermath following the battle of Hogwarts, so there isn't much to catch up on game-wide beyond funerals, escaped DEs, trials, etc. It's an amazing cast of newbies and RP experienced, and just a lovely creative environment.

RPG Pimping: The Road Ahead

So, you're a Muggleborn, and by law, you've been kept from your education at Hogwarts because of your blood. You've been on the run for months, detained in Azkaban, or hiding in the Muggle world with no news of the life you left behind. You're a Pureblood or Halfblood, and you've been forced to attend school with sadistic professors when you know you should have been fighting. You're a member of the Ministry, and you watched it taken over before your eyes. You're a Slytherin whose choice was made for you, possibly before you could even make it yourself. You've lost your best friend. Brother. Husband. You're a father who couldn't protect his son. A mother who couldn't save her daughter. An educator who couldn't properly guide your students. A Death Eater who's escaped justice for years. Who wants to escape it for far longer, and maintain the status quo.
Voldemort's gone. It's the day after the Battle of Hogwarts, and the dust has barely settled.

zuzuspetalwrote over at shh_watchers! It's her first fic, so all of you who were so wonderful when I wrote my first one and felt like an utter hack should go forth and read this! It's lovely and so flattering because it was inspired by Roger and Hermione at stoatshead_hill!
Second thing:stoatshead_hillis looking to cast a new Seamus and Fleur! Seamus is a great character, and there are lots of ways to develop him. He has a backstory, so it would need to be respected, but actually, right now, he's at a bit of a turning point and is able to start over in a lot of ways. And Fleur, well. Fleur is such a lovely character, and we need her! So if you're interested, apply!

Nov. 19th, 2006 10:46 pmAfter, like, 8 hours straight of RPing, I am chilling and going to bed. I am putting my foot down. Much as I love it (like, really love it, people), stoatshead_hillcan't take over my life.
Plus, I'm bloody tired.
So, in the real life, but still fun, department, I'm posting to my actual RL journal (what?! real life journal?) with some pimpage.
You guys need to pick up Damien Rice's latest album, 9, if you've not already; I just got it. Came out on the 14th. It's brilliant. I have his 2003 debut, O, as well, and gawd. I love that man. His music is lovely and angsty and makes me want to fall in love, like painfully, wonderfully, in love. And cry. lol. God. Like, it chokes me up, people.
Not to mention, it makes me want to write H/Hr. I get inspired by songs alot, and I just...ooh, it just reminds me how much I love h/hr. Oh.
Good stuff. If you buy one album this year....well, obviously it'll be whatever you want. LOL. But, you know, you should get this one. HIGHLY recommended. I'm even now hearing it and squeeing.
