...hi?

Hi.

Okay:

+ So work and life and school have been busy enough that it's easier for me to microblog lately, over on Tumblr and Twitter. You can pretty much always find/follow me over there. I keep trying to make posts here but never feel like I have anything interesting to say, and I feel worse as time passes, and and and. I also don't really feel like I have a fandom anymore, and that feels really weird on LJ especially. But as always I miss you when I stay away. :/

+ In the next month or so, things'll probably get even tighter for me because I need to pick up a part-time job in addition to my full-time one. I have no idea what it's going to be, but I need to bring some extra money in because it's hard to focus on anything when I'm feeling so snowed under. Basically I might look into waitressing or something? I used to be pretty good at that. Or retail, I don't know. It's really hard to imagine anyone hiring me for something on the weekends when they could take on any number of high school or college kids instead. I guess I won't know until I try. It's been...a really long time since I've looked for part time work, I don't even know what it would pay. I'd prefer to move into a full-time job that pays better, but it's not in the cards right now because I owe my company a couple more years for paying for grad school.

I'm hoping I'll actually feel better, even if I have less time to myself. Money stress (most types of stress I guess) tends to make me want to watch TV under the covers forever and not do anything, not even read LJ properly, and it gets really depressing and unhealthy and I don't wanna talk about it ok moving on.

+ LJ's not making it any easier to be back around with this new comment page thing. They're a visual nightmare and a functional DISASTER. Between this and delicious and AO3, I can't even. And screw anyone with dialup I guess, because having no option other than to load all your icon images every time you want to leave a comment must be super-fun for them.

...if anyone is on Dreamwidth I am too, so add me if you wanna. They are offering free accounts for the next few days and I probably have a ton of invite codes by now as well.

+ The Hobbit trailer has brought my Tolkien feelings back. Well, that and an impending yearly LOTR extended version marathon coming up next month.

+ Uploaded a ton of music over on my tumblr (more links at the bottom of the post), my faves of 2011 if you wanna check it out. If I can finish knitting these Christmas presents, I will post the links over here in the next couple days, be easier.

+ Still knitting! I'm still having fun with it, and getting better and better even if I don't quite have the dough to enable my yarn addiction. Which is probably a good thing. Right now I'm working on a hat for my dad and a shawl for my mom that I hope I can finish by Christmas. Luckily I'm not going out of town so I'm free to work up to the last minute, like I do~

I also love to TALK about knitting, so.

+ The other thing I've decided I want to get into finally in the new year is makeup. Which I have never worn...ever. Kind of ridiculous seeing as I'm a grown-ass woman, but I just never really learned how? And I want to. So I've been grilling friends for tips and I'm pretty excited. Decided I'm going to try Bare Minerals for foundation and maybe get one of those Naked palletes for my eyes if I can swing it. I'm taking recs if you have favorite eyeliners and lip stuff and whatever else.

+ I'll stop here I think. Happy Hanukkah, and Merry Christmas if I don't post again before then! Come say hi if you wanna; I'm gonna go work on replying to messages and stuff.
heathershaped: (Avatar: Sokka)
How're you all? Livejournal is slow as I don't know what since the downtime. Meh.

+ I did watch Merlin, I will make a post I think, but after the second ep of the two-parter has aired. In the rare event anyone was wondering where my Merls posts have got to this year.

+ So yesterday I went on a mild rampage on tumblr about my dislike of the word "girlcrush" (similar to my dislike of the word "bromance" as a more socially acceptable way to say "no homo") and it was fairly satisfying in itself BUT THEN Jasika Nicole (Astrid on Fringe) messaged me to say that I am her fave person to read on tumblr and that she has a crush on my brain.

Which.

WHAT.

So I'm basically going to be starstruck for DAYS, not helped by Lex and 3M making portmanteaus out of our tumblr URLs. (the consensus appears to be 'squintyourbooty'). I can't even. The dream is collapsing.

+ I'm so mad at Netflix right now. I put a hold on my account so I wouldn't be billed for anything (in exchange for not being able to watch anything) until November, but yesterday I noticed that they yanked seventeen bucks out of my account anyway. I need to call them and get that money back and then cancel their asses altogether. I wouldn't even be so upset if it wasn't literally scraping the bottom of my bank account at the moment. (automatic debits are SCARY, ugh). But yeah, I was willing to stick with Netflix instant watch even after their recent shenanigans but this is too much. Why is instant watch so alluring, why.

+ What're people listening to lately? I haven't been good at finding new stuff the last few months.

Hope everyone on the East Coast is safe and survived the storming! It wasn't bad where I am, we actually had a worse storm a couple weeks ago--or at least one that kept us out of power longer than Irene did. I think we were spared the worst because I was actually prepared this time. And by prepared I mean there were flashlights and booze. But I'm thankful it wasn't too serious here and I hope no one was hit too hard.

+ Watched Doctor Who this weekend and I...I don't understand the question and I won't respond to it. (But if you want to talk about it I will in the comments--I just don't have much good to say, might expand on that and/or link to some reviews I liked later).

+ I have a bluray rip of Thor and everything is fluffy and nothing hurts. There was this blog post by my homeboy Greg Rucka going around this weekend, about how gritty and dark and grey~ doesn't always mean smart or mature storytelling, tying into why recent DC comics movies underperform (with the obvious exception of BB/TDK) whilst Marvel comics movies keep kicking DC's ass.

Which is to say, Thor on bluray is everything good in this world.

+ The longer I go without a Pottermore email, the more I care about it. I wasn't prepared for this. I JUST WANT TO BE SORTED.

+ I was wondering if I could trouble you guys for Big Bang recs or links to reclists. Any Big Bang, I don't even care, but bonus points for ladies. *g* I'm in the mood to read some long fic. First on my list is the ones you guys have written, I've been bookmarking!
heathershaped: (kanyesus)
MAN, YOU GUYS. I feel like I miss y'all all the time because I go through these periods without posting/commenting. The thing is, I'm in a phase where I have not been feeling like engaging with fandom lately beyond talking about stuff that barely anyone else is watching. :P I've also been spending a lot of time on tumblr. But neither of these things are valid reasons not to engage with my f-list! So I'm trying to get better at commenting and answering comments and stuffs. Basically I don't want to only show up around here when I get mad about something, hee. So anyway, some things:

+ Parks and Recreation is back and everything is beautiful and nothing hurts. I love everyone in that bar.
+ I watched Sanctuary over the holidays -- it's actually pretty good! The first season was hard for me to get into, but it found its stride in season 2.
+ Side-eyeing Chris Nolan for his choices re: The Dark Knight Rises. Love Tom Hardy, but he should not be playing Bane. Bane is not white. Love Anne Hathaway, but I wouldn't have thought of her for Selina Kyle, although that one's more of a wait-and-see for me.
+ Being Human is back on Sunday. BEING HUMAN IS BACK ON SUNDAY. I haven't watched the US version because I'm just not sure I can take the secondhand embarrassment at this stage, however, I DID watch the US Skins premiere. It's kind of terrible but I'll be honest, I'm probably going to keep watching because I'm interested in what they'll do with Tea.
+ I just finished reading the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness. I couldn't help comparing it to The Hunger Games just because even though it doesn't have the same derivative Battle Royale ripoff premise, it does have some parallels about war and resistance and politics and stuff, and is also a YA post-apoc (sort of) trilogy of some notoriety. Except for me, Chaos Walking is SO MUCH BETTER. Mostly because Ness is a better storyteller than Collins IMO, and the characterizations were stronger, the plot felt much more cohesive. It's intense and heartbreaking and SOUL-DESTROYING but it's a good, quick read and I'd recommend it if you like YA stuff. Also: OTP of OTPs, feelings explosion, etc. Without getting all spoilery.
+ I just started reading Game of Thrones, because I'm more and more excited about HBO's adaptation of it that's coming in April. The trailers just look so amazing (Lena! Bean!), even though pseudo-European fantasy worlds are starting to bug me on principle. Anyway, I'm not far into the book yet, but it's good so far.

Brief assorted linkspam!
+ [personal profile] glass_icarus' Potluck blogging festival, for multicultural and intersectional discussions and writings about food.
+ According to my f-list I should read Pairing: Pendragon/Merlin. Everyone from every fandom is reccing this fic, haha. OKAY OKAY I WILL
+ Camelot Fleet Finishathon. Looks so amazing this year.
+ Really, really interesting and important discussion on "piracy" (specifically e-books for the most part), and the inherent privilege that goes along with defending Western Imperialist notions of intellectual property.

Finally, a meme, which you should all do, because I often feel like talking but don't know what to talk about! So, ask me anything you want to know!

Ask me a fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Questions can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta. Whatever you want.
heathershaped: (hp: maybe we should just stay here)
+ My holiday was pretty great. Food and family and wine and meeting, then awkwardly holding, my 20-day-old niece. SO TINY AND SQUIRMY OMG. I love babies, especially if they're related to me, but I don't know if I have vast stores of maternal instinct, lol.

She's the cutest though. ♥ Hope everyone had a good holiday. Despite being on the East Coast the brunt of yesterday's storm missed me, but I hope everyone who got hit is home safe and warm or traveling safely. <3

+ I watched the DW Christmas special, which was spoilers )

+ Two movies I watched over the holidays: True Grit and Black Swan. Brief thoughts:

Black Swan spoilers )

True Grit spoilers )

+ Everyone's making end-of-year lists! I never have before, but if I find the time I kind of want to put together a 2010 music post of some sort. Or perhaps a post about the TV I loved. There was a lot of TV. More on this later.

+ And oh man, sometime soon I need to talk to you guys about kdramas. Tumblr has made me start watching You're Beautiful and Secret Garden and hommmmg. *____*

THE WORST F-LISTER EVER. I have not touched LJ since sometime Saturday, I'm sorry, I'm the worst. How's everyone doing? I'm catching up with posts atm, but I have some random tidbits:

+ It is so obnoxiously Monday. I did not want to get up. I have had four days off. I did not want to get up. Also I took some thanksgiving food home from my folks' house on Thursday and now it's all gone. Except for some lingering cranberry sauce, I think.

+ Going to Miami on the 18th to see some family for the hols. *\o/*

+ I fixed my laptop all by myself yesterday! *dances* I basically just replaced the hard drive and restored the system to factory, and it was ridiculously easy, but I still feel like a BAMF.

+ The Wire: still the greatest. Rewatching was a good life choice.

+ Been mainlining a lot of new music lately. Ever go on these insane downloading binges, too fast to actually let stuff sink in properly? My music folder is so fat right now. My favorites right now are the Tron OST and Kanye's latest, and various random songs I've been grabbing here and there.

+ Augh, Misfits. I don't need to be getting into more shows that aren't good for me. What is wronnnnng with me. I'll tell you what's wrong with me: Antonia Thomas' face is what's wrong with me. spoilers for 2x03 )

+ brief Merlin babble )

+ Good luck to those scrambling to finish NaNo, and congrats to those of you who've finished! ♥

HELLO. ♥

+ Please vote today everyone! If you're not sure where your polling place is, Find Your Fucking Polling Place. Most of them close at 8pm.

I will be watching the results with bated breath tonight.

+ I meant to post yesterday, but good luck to everyone doing NaNoWriMo/Wrisomifu/NaBloPoMo/various other November-themed events wot involve lots of typing! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT. I... am not doing any of those. *loser*

+ Couple things I am watching that I haven't been talking about!

- Lost Girl. CRACKTASTIC CANADIAN URBAN FANTASY WITH CHICKS. I described it thusly to [livejournal.com profile] fruhlings on tumblr the other day:

"It’s … well. It’s campy but fun. It’s like if Xena took place in modern-day Toronto, complete with subtext between super-powered lead female and younger female protege who adorably insists on tagging along with her wherever she goes, if Xena were a succubus and Gabrielle were a grifter who was into disguises. And lead female has sexual tension with almost everyone she meets, male or female, just like Xena! There is diversity and lots of ladies and every episode title incorporates the word Fae in a way that’s probably going to get pretty old pretty soon.

…I think I’ll keep watching."

- The Walking Dead. Not too sure about this one yet. I mean it's mostly enjoyable - super-gross, really well-done zombie stuff, a great score and production values, good performances. But the opening was kind of gender-faily, and I'm not very engaged with the characters yet so I hope that comes later. Also I want to meet Glenn and get to know the supporting cast better because the lead guy is... well. Anyway, I'm giving it another shot.

- Dexter. Mixed thoughts on the season so far as a whole, but if you look closely, there is an utterly delightful buddy-cop dynamic emerging between Deb and Sierra. ♥ Deb remains the greatest, btw. Quinn is gross, and also orange.

Things I am behind on, mostly for lack of time:

- Undercovers. Hot married spies, cuteness, slowly developing actual tension and drama as the season progresses! IT CAN STAY. ♥
- Nikita. Improbable spy plots, unconvincing male love-interest types, but a Mentor/Protege dynamic between Nikita and Alex that I am in love with, and also Maggie Q with guns! IT CAN STAY TOO.
- Lip Service. Crack! Pretty lesbians in Glasgow! I'm only one episode in and I am taking my time catching up for some reason; mostly it makes me want to rewatch early seasons of The L Word, and also I keep getting irrationally annoyed that Angel Coulby is not in it? IT'S A LONG STORY. I can't explain my weird emotions at this time.

Hodgepodge of a post!

+ [personal profile] camelotremix has gone live this morning! MY GIFT IS AWESOME: First Up Against the Wall (the grease and diesel oil remix), it's Gwen/Morgana, modern AU, a remix of this little smutlet I wrote at a Fleet party called Grease-Stained? I'm kind of flailing that someone's made something so wonderful from it. The author's basically turned it into a scene from a longer fic; it has mechanic!Gwen, cute hot Gwen/Morgana-ness, mechanic!Gwen, a great supporting cast, mechanic!Gwen, touches on class issues, and also mechanic!Gwen. IT IS THE GREATEST.

I wrote one too obviously! But I can't say which one until sometime next week, I believe. (I imagine mine is super-easy to guess, for better or worse, but OH WELL. *g*) Hopefully my recipient is as happy with her gift as I am with mine. I have some vagueish ideas who might have written mine, but I'm not sure. Anyway, check it out; there are 31 fics, four of them Gwen/Morgana even!

+ There was some TV I was going to talk about! I'll be brief, and I'll go in order of my reactions, from 'BEST' to 'mixed' to 'what the actual fuck', shall I?

+ The Good Wife )

+ Glee )

+ Sons of Anarchy )
heathershaped: (SCC: do you trust me)
+ Thank you so much to whomever did this! Seriously. The anonymous love meme is great and you should all nom people and check out the index because there's tons of names to love on.

Now, while I'm here, some stuff:

- [livejournal.com profile] mrinalinee on why Outsourced is actually the worst. WORRRRRST.

- Mostly inspired by you guys, I'm thinking of doing a thirty day female characters picspam meme on here and tumblr. Can I actually stick to it and finish it? WE SHALL SEE.

- speaking of female characters, there are very few to speak of in The Social Network. That is why I don't really care about it, Sorkin or no Sorkin. Not because it's the "Facebook Movie" (though I do hate Facebook), not because I am being a Cool Kid who's ~above it all~, but because I'm broke and don't have the extra money to spend on a narrative about affluent white boys and their lives, one that is supposed to ~define my generation~ as a Y-er, but in which I see no evidence of anything relating to my actual experiences. Maybe later, I will rent it. *kanye shrug*

- that last point was for you, Tumblr.

- I do love the soundtrack, though.

- [community profile] undercovers! I love that show you guys; it reminds me of shows like Leverage in terms of adorableness. I watch ach week completely blown away by Gugu Mbatha-Raw's face. If it gets cancelled I shall never recover.

- I am also watching Nikita. Which is actually not terrible, if you ignore the improbable plot and Shane West, whom I can't take seriously. And it's a shame because he really really wants me to take him seriously, you can tell by his Serious Face. [personal profile] glass_icarus likes to call his permanent expression that of a grumpy teddy bear, and I think that fits. HOWEVER, Nikita is great, Alex is great, and I'm two eps behind but looking forward to catching up.

- I was going to review TVD, but it wasn't my favorite episode in a lot of ways, and also I am lazy.

- I'm in a weird mood. kind of grumpy, but very hyper as I've had sugar. That might explain this mess of a post.

- ...that's about it. Happy Monday errbody. ♥ How you doin', say hey if you want!
heathershaped: (Newsies: Never fear)
+ FIRSTLY, [livejournal.com profile] zahrawithaz, expect an email tonight! I honestly don't know how you are even still talking to me at this point. :P Things got a bit nuts and I let some fannish things slide, but I'm on it tonight.

+ I'm exhausted today. I've been sleeping really strangely, and not very much at all, and I'm not sure why.

+ Merlin spoilers are tripping me out and making my brain hurt. And making me bounce up and down a little, ngl.

+ How come half of my f-list is talking about RP lately? YOU GUYS ARE MAKING ME MISS IT. I think enough time's passed that I'm starting forget why I stopped. Which is not good, I had good reasons! I'm not too tempted as a) I don't really have much time for it b) it tends to drain my fic muse even more than usual and c) the characters I want to play are always taken anyway. But still, I've barely even thought about RPing for like a year and now my fingers are slightly itchy.

+ Two weeks and some change left to finish [personal profile] camelotremix. Should be plenty of time, right? Right?

+ I'm so proud and pleased about [livejournal.com profile] onceandfutures! It's gone better than I ever expected. We haven't had too many issues, touch wood, and it makes me really happy to see everyone active and flailing and speculating and squeeing.

+ I... was not crazy about last night's Mad Men. I don't think that's ever happened before!

+ Massive hugs to all of you, I've been reading and I know some of you have been having a rough time recently, and yeah. *hugs*
heathershaped: (TVD: Bonnie)
+ True Blood has sucked so much this season, haha. What even was that finale. quick spoiler )

+ Haven't seen Mad Men 4x08 yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

+ Watched the Nikita pilot yesterday. I am so down. The writing was so-so (loads of introductory expo-dumping) but Maggie is amazing and it's got loads of potential. That said? lol, Shane West.

+ Did NOT watch the VMA's (tumblr kept me abreast of the happenings). LOL at more Kanye/Taylor drama. Are we done weeping over that girl yet? *kanye shrug* I'll probably catch Kanye's and Florence and the Machine's performances on YT later, but no interest in anything else.

+ I don't think I posted about Vampire Diaries 2x01. AMAYSING. Would not even know where to start. ALL OF IT WAS ACES. ESPECIALLY KATHERINE AND BONNIE, oh my god. Quick rec: [livejournal.com profile] sarahtales on why TVD is the greatest.

+ Kind of looking back on the Merlin premiere with mild irritation atm. Maybe I'll feel better after Saturday's episode.
heathershaped: (bbc: emma)
+ I haven't posted in a bit, hi hi! Miss you guys - I've kind of sucked at commenting the past couple weeks except here and there, but I'm reading along. It's getting impossible to keep up with my reading list without filtering out the communities entirely. Sometimes I go days just reading the journals filter, so I know I miss a lot of community posts. I should remove them, but every time I start to, I hesitate. WHAT IF I NEED THEM. I did remove most of the Inception comms the other day. I never click on anything anymore; I usually seek out fic recs on delicious or similar (or you guys, haha) when I want to read something. THAT WAS A SHORT FANDOM. Fortunately I am still in the fandom of following JGL wherever he goes. That one's still going strong.

+ I am on tumblr quite a bit though, so feel free to hit me up there!

+ I think I'm going to need my passport in December, and I can't find it. fffuuuuuuUUUuuuu. There should be time to replace it, but that shit costs about $140. brb turning my house over again.

+ Have to dog-sit for a week starting this weekend. Guys I really miss my dog. :(

+ I have read nary a Big Bang fic yet. :/ I will get to them! Plan on dumping them on my Kindle and starting this weekend, hopefully. I've heard many good things.

+ Sons of Anarchy is back! And Mad Men is in full swing, and so brilliant this season I can't even handle it sometimes.

+ New Vampire Diaries tonight! And Nikita, which I'm quite curious about. I love a lot of Brit shows but you gotta love American network TV for the short wait between seasons. Feels like the last season just ended. Anyway, looking forward to those, and Community, Fringe, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, Undercovers, The Walking Dead... lots of stuff, basically. And Merlin starts on Saturday! FINALLY. I need Pendragons and Mor/Mor back in my life. I imagine I'll start posting about Merlin a lot starting this weekend.

What's everyone looking forward to watching?
heathershaped: (films: it's nice to be nice)
I've totally failed at updating this thing lately apart from the odd review. Have some miscellaneous thingies:

+ There've been a lot of fic challenges cropping up and I've been sitting out of all of them. It's not my style, heh - I don't know whether to feel proud of myself for resisting, or bad for not attempting challenges that look like a lot of fun. I'm leaning towards the latter tbh; on the other hand it's better than signing up to write yet another thing I can't seem to finish. I have no idea what to do about the not-finishing. I haven't been this blocked in a long time. But I always feel like if I DON'T sign up for things I'll get in the habit of not doing so, if that makes any sense at all. Most of my stuff in the past has come from challenges and I never know which will inspire something in the end.

+ Grad school classes start in a few weeks and I still haven't settled on which to sign up for. DERP.

+ Kanye West's twitter. That is all.

+ I'm watching Rizzoli & Isles on TNT. Guys, that show is the biggest subtextual tease I think I've ever seen. No really, Merlin has nothing - nothing - on Rizzoli & Isles. I can't tell if I love it or hate it. I think I love it because a) we never get girly buddy procedural shows, b) Maura/Jane have such a delightful friendship going on, and c) they're both competent and kickass characters around which the entire series revolves. It's a show full of things you don't always see on TV - and it's been renewed! So yes, I think I love it. At the same time, there's all this heavily coded subtext that leaves me frustrated over the fact that Jane and Maura are probably never going to make out. I'm literally and repeatedly left gaping at the screen every time they do not make out. *shakes fist at the sky* That and news I read about an upcoming episode make me think I might end up wanting to kick my computer screen before it's over. I kind of hate shows that do this.

+ I caught up on White Collar, having previously only seen the pilot. It's good! My main take-away thoughts are that I'm SO happy Diana is back as a regular, and that I'm half-convinced Matt Bomer is an actual wax mannequin who has been animated with magic. He is seriously flawless: double-breasted suits hang perfectly on him, nothing disturbs his hair ever, not even when he is chasing people, and his hat is perfectly cocked at all times. I'm not sure if this is good or bad but it's amusing. And his eyes are pretty.

+ Currently reading Steig Larsson's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, after having watched the film adaptation. I'm enjoying it, though for those who haven't seen the film or read the books and are thinking of picking them up, I think the series should come with trigger warnings. I have conflicted feelings about it overall. this isn't spoilery, just less brief than I thought it would be )

Anyway - hope everyone's having a good week so far! Come say hey if you want. Reading anything good?
heathershaped: (HP: Harry)
+ I'm probably the last person on my f-list to post about the DH trailer, but yeah, I watched the DH trailer! And it was amazing! I nearly cried.

I realise canon's been closed for almost three years now, but after the last films come out, it's really over when it comes to new material. Kind of hard to process. HP was my first real fandom and even though I've been into a lot of different things lately, it's my one true fandom -- the biggest, best, most immersive I've been involved in before or since. I've met so many of you through it. ♥ I doubt I'll ever find a fandom that's quite like it - both the good and the bad.

BUT DID I MENTION THE TRAILER IS AMAZING. Confession: I liked DH -- loved it, actually. Not unreservedly, but overall. I say that as someone who doesn't even ship the canon pairings. To me it was a love letter to the Trio, to me that's as it should be, and if the movie comes anywhere close I doubt I'll be able to get through it without sobbing.

+ Is this real life? EXCUSE ME RTD WTF ARE YOU DOING. I can't describe how much I hate the idea of Americanizing Doctor Who, or of inserting some movie-verse Doctor into things when the franchise is still going strong. Please let it be a hoax.

+ Via Flora, Five More Fictional Beings Bella Swan Should Fall Madly In Love With.

+ I'm taking vacation time next week! Friday's my last day. Including the holiday and weekends, I'll have a total of ten days off to chill, see friends, and get stuff done. Unfortunately I'm too broke to go anywhere far, but stay-cations can be good.

I hope y'all are having a good week! Hugs to everyone who needs one. ♥

WHO FORGETS MILK

I mean, well, I have SOME milk, but it's of questionable age. And actually there's a good chance it won't even occur to me to drink milk this weekend, but STILL. MILK.

lalala

Also, also, you lovely people who deal with lake effect snow all the time? Love ya'll, but quit making fun of us in the mid-atlantic for freaking out; you are not edgy. :PPPPPP There's a certain amount of excitement that comes along with impending snow days when they don't happen very often, and that's all right. Also, maybe a foot or two of snow isn't much in the grand scheme of things but until you see people sliding from one side of the road to the other because they think their new 4WD gas-suckers mean they no longer need to employ caution in snow storms, don't tell me what's not treacherous.

AND THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT.
